Keeping eye on the bowl

Full story: Baltimore Sun 15
After watching his team lose Saturday for the third time in four games, Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen was left guessing yesterday - just as Terrapins fans were - which bowl the team might be invited to. Read more

despite beating several ranked teams a 7-5 season is disappointing. i thought the "punt" where possession was first awarded to md and then given to bc was the critical play. like to the the terps play in the champs bowl. for fans going to orlando has to be much more appealing than charlotte. ave temp for orlando in late dec is 75 for high mid 50's for low for charlotte ave high is about 53 with lows in the mids 30's

I beleve it is time to stop and "gut check" our coaching staff. It's "very noticeable" that the coaching staff can not prepare this team to play hard and to stay focused for the entire game. In particular, the offensive line could not hold any part of the defense off the running backs or keep pessure off of Turner. They really appeared to be playing "lazy". The field goal is a real, real problem. Also, the defense couldn't stop a substitute quarterback. NEED I SAY MORE.

There were definitely 2 Terps teams this year. It's hard to watch a team that whips Wake, be beaten by MTSU.
Play back what ever the coaches said to the team against Cal, Wake, and Clemson and use that every week.
A team should want to win and not just because they were embarrassed the week before.

Ha! The Terrapins are afraid of Navy ... conflicts with exams, my foot. Two years ago, Maryland wouldn't face the Mids in Charlotte, and now they're hoping to get invited. This year, it's another lame excuse. My friends, now you know what fear smells like -- a turtle!

Maryland will never be invited back to the Champs Sports Bowl after their grossly they grossly overestimated their ticket sales for the 2006 bowl. Back to Boise.

Boise is where they belong.
This team is a Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde.
This team deserves a 30-35 ranking, at best.

The way they played and the way they wre coached they don't deserve to go.

I am tired of the players saying we are better then our record. No you are not!!! You played to inconsistent. Maybe you are worse then your record.

Coaching shake up is needed.

You summed it up very well my friend. Ralph needs to get fired and the sooner the better period. He really has lost touch with this team and they are a very poor coached team in all area's of the game.

Boise is too good for them , although it may be prophetic , they made their fans blue this year so play on a blue field and try to get better........

I'd be very interested in buying tickets for the Champs Bowl. A buddy is also ready to trip to Orlando if we get picked. The Champs bowl would pit us against a Big 10 team likely Mich St. I think that match up is more compelling and has more TV marketing power than yet another game with WVU which would be regional only. Unfortunately, Champs' web site seems to indicate that they are going with BC (doesn't travel/not enough alumni/too far from Ma) and Mich St. If the teams go to bowls based on standing, then; BC will probably go to the Chick. VT will go to Orange. FSU will go to Gator. GT to Champs. Turtles to Music or Mufflers. The Music would pit us against a SEC team which would be interesting. Just my two cents urrr more like $500-$800, I'm just not will to spend that to go to Charlotte.

As a Maryland and Navy fan, that is ridiculous. The fact is the University of Maryland is having final exams at the time the Eaglebank Bowl is going to be held. As for not playing Navy two years ago, Maryland was in a much stronger position at the end of the season than they are this season in regards to bowl selection. At the time, MD (8-4 after the 2006 regular season) wanted to at the very least go to the ACC #4 bowl, which was and still is the Champs Sports Bowl. And Orlando > Charlotte, especially in December. MD and Navy will be playing again in 2010 and Ralph Friedgen has repeatedly stated he wishes the two schools played every season.

Go Terps and Go Navy!

The Maryland football program seems to be bogged down in mediocrity. I don't see anything improving anytime soon

Wouldn't it be cool if the Terps played for the National Championship??

(Just fantasizing that's all!)
