That really brought tears to my eye's Ralph , but you are paid to win Football games and beating a division 2 school by only 7 points on Saturday is a embarrassment to you and to the program. What a JOKE

Hey Fridge, guess what, we WERE booing YOU and your lame-o play calling. Even little league daddies know that sometimes there is a kid who is more skillful in game situations and, though it hurts your pride, that kid should be playing (doesn't take a RATT to sniff that out). Unfortunately, this is D1 football and not a county rec league. Hope your 'son' fares better this week....

Well, funny he likens him to his son. It sounds like nepotism that keeps that kid on the field. And yes, when I boo - it's for Friedgen, not Steffy.

He seems like a great guy, but he after 3 yrs, Friedgen's a moron if he can't figure out that the kid just doesn't have it to be a QB in this league.

If you are asking your QB to throw picks, hold onto the ball too long, and miss wide open WR's .. while getting happy feet if there is any sense of pressure - then yes, he's your guy... and maybe you, Ralph, need to ask for other things if you want a winning program.

This is just a joke!

These FCS (formerly Div 1-AA) schools are no longer pushovers, look what happened with Michigan last year, in addition some of the stunning early upsets this year already. But that is not an excuse, Maryland has to get something going, because Scott can't run for 190+ week in and week out.

"...this kid to me is the epitome of what we want in this football program," Friedgen said.

If that's the case, Maryland desperately needs a new head coach.

That RATT reference was awesome. Even if it was an accident. Does Turner proud.

Steffy: good kid, not a good ACC QB. I - along with Ralph and most Maryland fans - once thought he was going to be a star for this program, but how many more blown opportunities does it take for Ralph to realize he's not the guy. I feel bad because he was thrown into the fire and has suffered injury after injury, but sometimes things don't work out like you had once thought. He's a bright kid off the field and will have a bright future in something else, just not playing football.

Ralph: I appreciate the fact you're sticking up for your guy, and yeah he's a good guy, but if he's the epitome of what you want for your program, expect a lot of 5-6 win seasons.

I would love for both to prove us wrong, but then again, that would give him more opportunities (which most of us don't want).

Chris Turner was able to produce for this team last year when Steffy was hurt, now he didn't put up outstanding numbers last year but he did enough, more than Steffy did. I say Ralph should start Turner.

I have to agree with the Fridge, I for one am not a Steffey fan , btu these guys are college kids , they do not deserve to be booed, I do not think Steffey is big college football qb material, but I also do not think he should be booed, Ralphe is right he should be booed himself for playing Steffey. Boo on you Ralph for playing him but thumbs up for standing up for the kid, from all I have read he is a quality person just not a good qb.

Hey Ralph, how do you expect fans to voice their displeasure with the chosen one if they dont boo?? Maybe you should concentrate on trying to figure out a way to beat a D2 program by more than 7 points instead of worrying about booing.

Bottom line, Coaches are judged on wins and losses. If Fridge thinks Steffy is the man, then he shouldn't complain when he's fired.

Boo freaking hoo! You play like suck, you get the boo birds!!!

Steffy has sucked and has always sucked in live game situations, he should not be anywhere but a practice field!!!!!!!!!!

Keep him on the bench and start Turner until you let portis do something beside a QB run to the short side.

There you go. Ralph went ahead and admitted what the rest of us have been saying for weeks. He looks at Steffy like a son. Sorry Ralph but you are paid to make solid football decisions, not emotional ones. If I was his boss I would have to fire him because he is no longer acting in the best interest of the program. This isn't little league where you get to be the coach and insert your son into the game even though he stinks. You're paid millions of dollars to make this a winning program. Start acting like it our your gone.

Ralph, stop sinking so low! Your fans care about who plays good during games, NOT PRACTICE! The great Allen Iverson once said, "C'mon man, we talkin bout practice!" Going .500 is not acceptable this year, let Turner start!

I have a question for the Fridge.

How do you know the fans weren't booing you and your laughable offensive gameplan.

I'm sure if you polled the fans who did in fact boo, you'd realize that many were in fact booing you and Franklin.

Way to use Portis. You bring him in and line up in the shotgun. Then you just run a sweep with him? Talk about predictable.

A whole offseason of tinkering and a new scheme and THAT is what you come out with week 1 vs a DII school?

I got news for you Fridge. You are damn lucky you didn't play Delaware last year when Flacco was there. Because if you did, you'd have alot more to worry about than your QB situation. You'd be sitting at 0-1.

Steffy Graf versus Chris (William "the greatest american hero" Katt) Turner. No contest, go with the frizzy haired dude. He moved the ball last year, Mr Football as always right on the money.

Fridge is a moron. His act is old. Steffy has been a bust just like every QB he has recruited. McBrien was a transfer and Hill was Vandy's recruit. He has failed to deliver. Fridge needs to go.

Echoing a lot of others here, Friedgen's comments always show his personal preference for Steffy, he's 'his kind of guy'...'hard worker', and this is what gets him on the field. Like Mr. Football said, he's making emotional decisions, he likes Steffy so Steffy starts, Turner personally isn't his 'kind of guy' so he doesn't play, he only gets in when Friedgens hand is forced. I was not booing Sat but if I had I also would've been booing Friedgen, why does he assume Steffy was being booed and not him? He needs to wake up to that and understand that fans don't believe he's making decisions based on the best interests of the team but instead on his personal likes and dislikes. When he commented about the 2 he said both did some good things when talking about the positive, but when talking about the negative, Steffy 'missed some things', whereas Turner did some 'bad things'. His bias always shows when he speaks of the 2 of them. Well, Steffy had 2 weeks of prep and most of the practice snaps and still gave a so-so performance, I think a little better than anything he showed last year, but still not very good. He still only led one touchdown drive where he had any hand in it. Turner on the other hand was in the back-up position with back-up snaps and was then thrown in cold late in the game in a position that was probably to just keep the status quo, protect the lead and don't let anything bad happen. To judge him on his 1 of 3 performance this past Saturday would'nt be fair, but when it comes to these 2 I don't believe Friedgen can clearly see 'right' and 'fairness'.

Pressure is the name of the game. As a fan I am really worried about the direction we are going. We all want to win. The last few years were disappointments. No reacting to the fans. I don't care who is quarter back. Just win games. Some of the comments are way out of line. I will remain a MD booster whatever happens.
