"Who mixed the dogs up?" Pathetic but true: The Ohio State University's crack basketball announcer (a grownup, not a student) called UMBC "the Terriers" at least 50 times during Saturday's game broadcast. Never said "Retrievers" once. I was driving across Ohio Saturday afternoon and heard the entire second half and the post-game show, during which this was never corrected.
So, OK, the blowhard announcer's a stone idiot -- but the entire OSU sports info department and radio production crew has to share the blame for this. Do they publish a media guide? Do they ask their announcer to, like, thumb through it before he calls a game?
I hope the Big Ten fan boards get a load of this and have fun with it.
