Glad to see Chad Tucker of Cloverdale was included. He was a hellluva player there and later at Butler.
"He has coached at Manchester (Ind.), Missouri State, Iowa and currently is at New Mexico."
Sothwest Missouri State, not Missouri State. |
One of the most impressive scoring duels I recall was the final four in 83' when James Blackmon of Marion scored 52 points in an overtime loss to Anderson, which was led by junior Troy Lewis' 42 points. Whatever happened to Blackmon's college career? Didn't he suffer knee trouble?

It is Missouri state these days...
Yes, and it is Southwest, not Sothwest Missouri State! Steve is a credit to Indiana!! |
They changed the name of the school so it wouldn't be a "directional" school. Some great players on that list. |
By definition, wouldn't these guys just be the 1983-84 All Star team? Was anyone on that team left off of this list?
Unfortunately, Chad Tucker comitted suicide about 10 years ago. Anybody know what happened to Arlington's Jerome Brewer? Blackmon had a modest career at Kentucky.

Ft Mitchell, KY |
In 2005, the University's name changed to Missouri State University. http://www.missouristate.edu/ |

Didn't Brewer die of a heart attack or something like that in the last year or so? I think his nephew was a very good football player for Carmel this season. I might be confusing the situation and if so I apologize.
Blackmon had a nice career at Kentucky, but never fit well in the half court pace of UK. He is now doing a nice job at Luers in Ft. Wayne, coaching "the next LeBron." |

GO STEVE!!! IU should have him instead
of Sampson!! |
Good question about whether this would have just been the 83-84 All Star team. In that generation was John Sherman Williams of Washington H.S.(played with Fitzgerald) and I hope he is in the Hall. He just dominated games with less talent and resources around him. Ken Barlow was of that generation as well. I believe Barlow, Fitzgerald, J. Sherman Williams, and perhaps Brewer all graduated in '82. So perhaps this class of inductees spans different years. Alford would have graduated '83 if I am not mistaken since he was a senior at IU in '87(?) That was near the tail end of some great Hoosier basketball only topped later by Henderson-Robinson and Damon Bailey's years.
IU decided they actually wanted to win some games.(Games that COUNT.) |
Go talk to people in iowa City, Iowa about Alford. |
...Apparently at all costs, too. Who needs integrity when there are games to be won? |
And mike davis had integrity. But could not coach basketball. |
Dowell was a monster and had an outstanding career at USC.
When did Birch Bayh die?
The Heinman Twins owned Steve Alford in the 1983 Regionals. Connersville RULES! Alford stinks
