How the hell does UTEP drop in the AP poll if they never lost last week??

They went from #24 to #25

Could it be that the teams in front of them won, and those top team that lost didn't drop too far??

I'm guessing Georgetown took the spot that UTEP should have received.

I thought UTEP would at least move up to #22 at most and #23 at least.

If the voters used the UAB game on Saturday as an indicator, then that is a bunch of bs because many good teams have had nail-biters at home and yet they move up. Don't forget, UTEP beat a team with a higher RPI last Saturday and they stopped Marshall's 7 game win streak at Marshall earlier last week.

Georgetown has lost 5 of it's last nine games. They were 1-1 last week. The polls suck.

Not really yes utep beat a herd team that was doing great but also the just beat a team that was beat pretty well by the tigers, what i mean is utep was supposed to beat both teams. The bad part is that since utep beat uab b in AL they where supposed to kill them here. The only thing is utep is being ranked better in the big dance which means we might have to play a better team like florida st. Its going to be a fun tourny.

Randy should be C-USA player of the year, period!!!
If he isn't named player of the year it will be a total travesty! I don't think there is another player in the conference that even comes close to Randy!

Very well deserving, I have not seen the Miners play much the last couple of years due to working out of town but I moved back in December and have since what this team means to El Paso. I am very much reminded of listening to the 66 team on the radio with my mother. Brings back a lot of good memories. THANKS MINERS!!!

Congrats to Culpepper and Caracter. If Randy sticks around another year he will be a 1st Team All-American. I think he is one of the best players in the country and has so far played under the radar. That will change.

It isn't surprising to me that UTEP dropped in the polls without losing. They barely scraped by in games they should have won by larger margins. In fact, taking a close look at their overall results combined with their recent performances, I don't think they are even a Top 25 team. Top 40 perhaps.

So with this logic, explain to me why Kentucky stayed in the top 5 after losing to lowly South Carolina??? For all its worth, Kentucky could have "scraped" by in that game, and they still would have remained #1. Or how about the Vanderbilt games??? Sure, they won both, but they "scraped" by. Tennessee?? Kentucky dropped one against Tennessee when they "should" have beaten them. Or Florida (who, with your logic, should have trounced by 30, yet allowed them back into the game before again taking over). All these "scrapes" while playing in conference play. After taking a close looks at their overall results combined with recent performances, I don't think Kentucky should be in the top 15. Top 25 perhaps.

Overall body of work + recent results. KUs overall body of work is certainly worthy of them staying in the Top 5 even after their loss to the Gamecocks.

There are certainly teams in the Top 25 that one can argue should not be there and teams not in that one can argue should be. UNLV for an example of the latter. Looking at UTEPs losses (NMSU, TTU, Houston etc) and lack of wins against top teams + recent squeakers and it is easy to argue they shouldn't be in the Top 25.

In the end it is largely subjective anyway and results are what counts. If they are Top 25 then we should see the results in the C-USA tourney and the NCAA tourney.

ESPN analyst Doug Gottlieb indicated Tony Barbee as a possible next coach for Depaul. Link as follows:

I'll put Derrick Caracter against anyone. He should have also been on 1st team.
The polls are the biggest political sports fiasco in all history. All is geared to the majors. Makes me sick! And go Miners!!

Teams with-in their respective conferences always play each tougher no matter what their ranking is. It's called conference competition. Alll UTEP has to do is keep on winning and that will silence all the critics, rankings, and pollsters. Go Miners!
