Shameless anti - Purdue spin from the biased pro-Hoosier IndyStar.

Isn't the story that he was ruled eligible by the NCAA after a long delay?

Yikes...1 game into the new season and we've already had issues with three players. This is like football season all over again.

Oh, that's just wrong. Cheating, schemers that have no regard for the rules. We cannot stand for this.

Everybody, let's make a big deal over this. Let's write endless posts bashing Purdue over a rather insignificant and trivial situation. Because Purdue fans sure wouldn't do that to something as major as phone calls. Cause when I think about the dark underbelly of sports, I think about a Coach talking to a recruit, how dare we stand for this.

Phone calls, players playing in ineligible games overseas, what's next: Steroids, Point Shaving, Ref Scandals???

He wasn't benched. It just took the clearing house way too long to clear him to play. He didn't do anything besides play with other players who got paid when he was in 9th grade in Europe.

So, a person here can leave high school and play pro baseball and then go back to college and play football but if a kid in a foreign country plays basketball with some guys who get paid for it, thats a crime that might make him ineligible ?? Who the heck makes these rules and decisions??? The NCAA is wielding too much control over kids before they even get to the college level, and maybe even after they get there.

Let's not stoop to their level. It will just encourage the Purdue fans to keep up with the negative comments regarding IU.

I am not one to believe in the "IU Star" mentality but this was a clearing house issue and not one of misconduct by the player..what a shame that the Star chose to slant it this way.

Great News for Boiler Fans! This guy was projected to be a starter before this issue came up if I remember correctly. Kentucky recruited and wanted him badly but thankfully he close POurdue. Heard he's a real banger inside and will give Purdue some muscle upfront.
This issue was really insignificant. He was not paid, he just played in somne games with pro players in his home country. There never was any accusation of any wrong-doing, it just has to be cleared by the NCAA which druag on.

Sorry braiuless IU fan, but no black-eye because of this. There never was any accusation of wrong-doing, just that he had played in some games with pro players in his home country. Just takes time to get clearance from the NCAA which took too long.
Deflections you refernce were due to players leavbing because they knew they would be riding the bench with the new players coming in and they selfishly only wanted to thing about themselves.
Stick to the IU section for your comments in the future, you'll find plenty brain-less buds there.

I've heard also that this kid is pretty good. We need an inside banger. Glad that the NCAA Clearinghouse finally got off their duff. This should have been done prior to the start of the season. Why does the NCAA always drag these things out for so long?

Quit trying to spin this our of embarrassment for your own program. There was no cheating involved, we approached the NCAA and didn't play him until we got the okay. We are in the right, Sampson was in the wrong. Deal with it.

Do you even understand what the ruling was? It had nothing to do with a crime, grades, etc. Crawl back in your hole and learn to read.

This is a non-issue compared to lying about phone calls.

Nice misleading headline Bloomington Star. Calasan was a Junior College transfer and he had to clear the NCAA Clearinhouse like all transfers/HS recruits. Of course, the NCAA waited months to make their decision. Calasan was the #2 rated Juco player in the Nation and I believe was the MVP of the Juco National Title game. Purdue definately needs his contribution.

You are confused because Purdue followed the rules! They waited for eligibility You are confused because Purdue followed the rules! They waited for eligibility status. They knew the rule and followed it. Just like Calvin knew the phone sanctions and followed them....opp! Maybe not!

What a ridiculous spin! He isn't being penalized for having played back in Europe, the paperwork and investigation process won't be finalized until the end of the week. I can't believe the Indy Star would put such a negative spin on this. Shame on them, shame.
