Would all of you Purdue fans stop being so defensive and consider for a minute the fact that the rest of us don't get daily calls from Painter updating us on the status of players? I would love for the Star to put in two paragraphs about why Mike White hasn't even taken off his warmups yet this year. It's an update about the team. Read your Laf. paper and quit reading the Star if all you can do is complain. You guys perpetuate middle child status with all the whining you do.

Thanks NCAA for taking so long to "clear" Butler-bound Jermaine Raffington this past off-season. He had a similar hang-up as Calasan, but you took so d*mn long doing your "investigation" that he got fed up and headed back to Europe. Too bad you couldn't have been as swift with our case as you were with this one. It's a shame your whole building didn't burn down earlier this week.

Who is this Calvin character everyone keeps talking about? Must be similar to the mysterious Payton fellow that hundreds of people talk about, but doesn't appear to be relevant in any way shape or form to Indiana sports. Calvin and Payton reveal yourselves?

At least you guys have a solid Women's program. Or had, until they cheated too. But you guys can pin-up pictures of Gene Keady's beautiful mug and caress his sweet delicious combover and how clean his programs were... oh wait, he got caught cheating too. Well, you guys still have football, wait Tiller's probably canned and they aren't really recruiting much. Oh well, at least you guys still have a BIG DRUM and can ENGINEER THINGS. Cool!

Light reading about the Mold Gold and Black, I know its not Corn & Ag Monthly or Electrical Engineering Quarterly or even The Combover Times, but still a good read nonetheless:

Nice headline from the Star. The word "benched" implies the kid did something wrong and the coach benched him for it. Instead, it couldn't be any further from the truth. The NCAA Clearinghouse had to clear Calasan to play, much like they had to do with Holman at IU. The Star continues to amaze me at their complete disregard and disrespect of Purdue.

The infractions are almost a decade old, not under a newly hired coach that knew what he was and was not allowed to do. Come on, and just admit that Kelvin is a dumba$$. For once and for all can we cut out the Ag jokes and ugly girl comments. Just as many hicks attend IU as attend Purdue, difference is our Ag program actually produces successful people. Our business school has outranked yours many times in the past, engineering is much tougher than 99% of your undergrad majors and additionally we have nationally ranked pharmacy and veterinary programs. So, what is it about IU's school that is so much head and shoulders above Purdue... Exactly, you've got nothing.

What exactly did The Star do? Don't shoot the messenger. Yeah, how dare The Star accurately report exactly what happened. They could have just not reported the fact that a player isn't eligible to play or they could have, and they did.

I don't know about you, but I would choose to have info reported compared to NOT reported.

The Star did NOT accurately report what happened. Saying that a player is "benched" implies a decision by his coach for misconduct or poor performance. That is NOT what is going on here. Calasan is NOT YET ELIGIBLE, but he is NOT benched. Would you describe a player who transfers to another school and has to sit out a season to gain eligibility as "benched"? I didn't think so. That player, like Calasan, is INELIGIBLE, not "benched."

Nope, I like The Star's version better. Way to go Star, solid reporting from a fine upstanding newspaper. We are lucky to have your words grace our doorstep each morning. I hope they lock this cheater up and throw away the key and then hopefully The Star then reports that and then we can read it again. Thank you Indianapolis Star.

There are not versions of the truth, which the Star did not report. No cheating occurred. Deal with the fact that Kelvin cheated, plain and simple. Matt did nothing of the sort.

Don't try to confuse all these IU idiots with the facts, you will just waste your time. They can't seem to grasp (or really don't want to) what the issues were in this case.

Ignore these idiots, they will get tired and go away....

This is all past history dude and infractions have been leveled and served. The women's program will struggle this year but Versyp signed a stellar recruiting class including Alex Guyton from Bloomington, IN. Apparently IU was not good enough for her. Guyton is a 6'3" greyhound who as a Jr All-Star last year fed Ms. Basketball on the Sr team her lunch. Brittany Rayburn will be this year's Miss Basketball and the two tall gals that we stole from SEC country are very athletic. The Boiler women are definitely on a Boiler Up! Versyp's team play hard, just like Painters. We are blessed with two excellent BB coaches. Get ready for it.

Isn't the story that he was ruled eligible by the NCAA after a long delay?
He didn't give his name but the author is probably the IU Journalism grad who works for the Star -- At least the IU folks say he's a grad. My guess he couldn't spell ineligible so he used bench instead. The poor guys -- rumor has it that he tried to go to Purdue but was turned away for not qualifying academically and had to settle for a degree from IU. Now he's bitter.
