They did their best. Hold your heads up high Warriors. The biggest bashers are the arm chair quarterbacks or those that never played the game but wish they did.

The number "1" or any other odd number is good luck in Hawaii circles. And that record's a helluva lot better than being 13-0 (now THAT's bad luck -- know of any college Div' 1 football team that had a great year after a 13-0 season?).

Jokes on YOU, buddy.

13 -0 would have meant a Sugar Bowl win, is'nt that what wanted? We lost !! 12-1. Trust me its better to be 13-0 and 12-1 !!!!!

The number "13" is what I'm talking about. Bad luck, the number 13. Am I getting this wrong?

I think a lot of Hawaii residents were divided on this one. I know the bar I was at when the Sugar Bowl was announced, Hawaii was mentioned first ... then it took a long time for Georgia's name to be mentioned as the opponent (and vice-versa)... a few folks groaned in the bar. Others cheered. So, I guess that was a good barometer about how some folks thought the Warriors had their work cut out for them and how others thought we had a great chance.

So ... anyone. Tell me WHAT team had just as good, perfect season and better bowl AFTER a 13 win streak the previous season? 13 is STILL bad luck, no?

I'm also admitting that they lost their bowl as well (else I wouldn't be CALLING myself 12 and 1 in the first place).

My point is (since I need to spell it out):

"13" is never a good number, odd number it however is. Why the heck don't buildings have the number listed as one of their floors? Bad luck, that's why (gee, you mean superstition overrides engineering in this day and age? You betcha!).

"1" is the greatest odd number. We got 12 wins this season. One loss (which taught us a lesson). OK, no problem.

Georgia, well, they think they deserve a run at the national championship. They need to work for it next season. With their opponents? Getting to the national championship next year is more of a challenge than, well, than the Warriors had against Georgia in yesterday's Sugar Bowl. Georgia's opponents next year will do everything to stop them from going to the national championship. Look for Georgia to be next season's Michigan.

And NONE of this means that us Hawaii folk ain't proud of our Warriors ... and, the best part? This AIN'T the end of the Warrior football team.

Not by a long stretch.

But I'm just saying that if we won we would be 13-0, and not thinking about next year its about winning yesterday.
