Voters should also consider how a player did the previous season to eliminate voting for a flash-in-the-pan type of player, in a retroactive manner. Sort of like a lifetime achievement award. Like mentioned Colt had the best season ever last year, and put up some of the best numbers this year, not to mention being on the only undefeated team in the nation headed for the Sugar Bowl. Some strongly feel that a player from a mid-major conference should not win the award. However, years ago Ty Detmer of BYU won the Heisman. His greatest accomplishment was breaking the all-time NCAA career touchdown record. Recently, Colt broke this record and is now the career touchdown record holder. For all of these aforementioned reasons, Colt Brennan is deserving of the Heisman Trophy. Go Warriors!
The biggest knock on Colt Brennan is the fact that he does not play for a team in a BCS-conference. However, Colt's ability to bring a mid-major team such as Hawai'i into a BCS Bowl Game should nulify Colt's non-BCS conference status. Like Edward mentioned, Ty Detmer won the Heisman while at mid-major BYU. Colt recently broke the record that was most dear to Ty Detmer, the NCAA career TD record. There is no reason why Colt shouldn't win the Heisman! Go Warriors!

Are they playing in the NFL right now? No. Stop talking about it because it strait up doesn't matter. If it was based on NFL potential the award would go to Glenn Dorsey. In addition, it is an annual award. If you can stop being a homer for just a second you would see pretty clearly that Tebow and Brennan were not even close this year.
Tebow's stats:
Passing 217 317 68.5 3132 29 6 Rushing 194 838 22 4.3
Brennan stats:
Passing 337 472 71.4 4174 38 14 Rushing 73 65 8 0.9
In addition, they are not playing against the same level of competitions. 20 rushing touchdowns in the SEC is simply amazing. Doing that while having nearly the best passing rating in the country in mind blowing. If you have to choice between the two for a college quarterback, you pick Tebow. I watched him in Tiger Stadium this year. LSU only won that game because the offense kept him off the field with 5 fourth down conversions and that was his worst game statistically. The man is a force of nature and deserves the heisman. Just be happy your boy got the invite to New York.
STFU,
Tebow, NP!?! A girl could run it in from 5 yards out too. Big deal!? If Brennan played in the SEC he'd be a top QB too. The SEC, must be a league for the "good 'ole boys." Bunch of necks; grip your shorts and do everyone a favor and jump. Idiot.

Chris ala vegas, you idiot. UH recievers are with the best in the nation. Guys, you can't knock either of them, nor elevate one's stature at the expense of the other. That's childish, and exactly what Jones did on national TV. Chris and Jones think the same, it's all about Colt. Where does the rest of the team fit in?
Loser,

If Florida's most difficult game was against Washington, Tebow would be undefeated. Hawaii's schedule was horrible. Come New Year's, welcome to SEC country. Drink, eat, visit the casino, and experience why we believe SEC football is the best in the country. Btw, I ain't a gator's fan. I just didn't think I needed to make that clear since you can see what city I live in. I defend Tebow because he is bar none the best college player I have ever seen and what jj did was bs.
Idiot,
What JJ said was FACT; get over it!? He should know about QBs, he's coached and evaluated some of the best. Unlike some of the Hawaii fans, I admire JJ and don't get all riled up after he says something because he speaks what's on him mind and not what people want to hear. Take this to the bank: Colt is the best QB in the country and Hawaii will be whooping some bulldog butt come 1Jan08. The SEC have never seen an offensive power like this and it will drive them crazy because they know that Hawaii will throw the ball but won't be able to stop it.

Let's not overblow Colt. He's come a long way from being a convicted felon (breaking into a woman's home and molesting her). I hope he stays on the right course.

Let's not kid ourselves here. Colt is the best Quarterback in the country, hands down. Will he win the Heisman? Probably not. Tim Tebow of Florida has the SEC label to go along with all the hype about his 51 total TD's. Needless to say in 2006, Brennan had 58 TD's in passing alone. I find it funny how JJ's QB's acquire the tag of being a "System QB" and no one makes a fuss about it. But the second JJ calls Tebow a system QB, all of those "College Football analysts" get their panties in a bunch. What JJ said isn't news. It's the truth. I've been saying it all along, ever since the 49ers decided to overpay Alex Smith. I told my friends, "Alex Smith is a good athlete but he's not a great QB." They'd ask me why I thought so and I'd reply: "When's the last time you saw an NFL team run the Spread Option?" On the other hand, we've seen JJ's Run n' Shoot at the NFL level. Also entertaining is when I saw Jesse Palmer of College Football Live bash JJ for making those remarks about Tebow, then when asked who will have the more productive NFL career hands down, he replied: "Colt Brennan."

You need great facilities to recruit and nurture talent. You need a fan base that supports your team. Perferably, they show up to a game more than twice a year.

Nice, justify yourself by racism rather than looking at the facts in front of you. He ran for 800 yards. Jacob Hester made second team SEC by running for a 1000. Tebow also have excelent passing stats. He played 2 roles very well on a BCS eligible team. It really is a no brainer.

Ty Detmer being overrated is the exact reason why Cold didn't earn the Heisman last year. Is it too much to ask that you know a damn thing about college football?

Why didnt god Tebow lead HIS team to victories, and comebacks. Was it maybe that he was just padding his stats only for the heisman.
Florida has a very young and inexperienced defense this season.

For what it is worth Colt Brennan had much better stats last year as a Junior. Colt should have won it last year over that NFL bust Troy Smith from Ohio State.

Says Brennan should have won Heisman after he tore apart Arizona State in the Hawaii Bowl throwing for 559 yards and five touchdowns with an interception in the 41-24 win.

Be realistic and actually look at Hawaii's season. Yeah, they are undefeated but they didn't look particularly good doing it. Down 21 points to Washington and going to overtime with LaTech. The SEC has seen more impressive offensive teams this season than Hawaii. Georgia may come out flat and give Hawaii a chance but I will be surprized if the game isn't over by half time. Its not Hawaii's fault, they just smaller and slower than Georgia. If you expect Hawaii's offense to just move at will against Georgia....

I do believe with Colt's accuracy and quick release, if his receivers can get open and run good routs and with Hawaii's offensive formations & be able to confuse Georgia's secondary then the Warriors will stay in it.

Side Note Hawaii's defense was ranked 30th
overall in CFB this season up from 91st last season.
