Last year's squad was within a point at Wisconsin and led at halftime at BYU. Those are two of the toughest places in the country to play. This year's squad will be better and I think that an upset or two is not a reach at all.

there is good reason to be excited about th49ers this year as Krikorian mentioned of Monson' run at Gonzaga where his teams improved with ever year as key players gained more exthere is usually great improvement showb by collegiate players between their freshman and sophomore years and grows even more expoentiallyas they progress furtherand by finding such a strong nucleus of young players when this group are Seniors is when they'll really shineand as Monson continues to add talented players ever year the program gets stronger and stronger as the youngest members of the team no longer have to produce as significantly as the older ones allowin newer players to the system to learn the system and the play bigger roles as older players depart. Monson and Mark Few (current Gonzaga coach are masterful at helping thes players improve but at Long Beach freshman players are given a bigger opportunity to contribute while at Gonza redshirt years for young players to allow them the time and opportunity to learn and develop.at Long Beach Moson seems to have used a different way to incorporate young players thus preseving redshirt opportunities for players should they be needed for injury reasons or such and after havin his taste of Big Ten basketball.Monson like few Long Beach coaches before him(i.eHarrington or Greenberg)isn't looking to market himself for another job at a bigger or more prestigous school knowing he can have a nice run in Long Beach w/ the wealth of asketball talent in the surrounding area.hewas a great hireand Ilook forward to continued development and success ofCSULB hoopsa top notch facility like the Pyramid only enhances those hopes even more.
