The team has been consistently inconsistent all season both offensively and defensively. Therefore, I don't see LBSU winning the conference tournament with or without a first-round bye. The team was overhyped by the media in the pre-season and touted as a pre-season pick to win the conference, which I believe worked against the psyche of the talented, athletic but still inexperienced core group of players. The team has shown they're at least a year away from reaching their potential and proving they're the class of the conference.

The team was definitely overhyped, and this year was not one of Monson's best coaching jobs. Fleming was never developed. The biggest shortcoming is Gilling & Plater have not improved to be a consistant off-guard threat. Anderson has no clear offensive role. Clog the paint against the Beach, and you'll win 7 times out of 10. The pieces are there, make the 15-20 foot bank a threat.
