Glory days are here again. Tubby is a fine gentleman, but Gentlemen doesn't win ball games. If it took losing Paterson and Lucas to get rid of Tubby, so great. Saying Donnivan is the new coach is questionable. He has a great setting at Florida. Calipari and Self

Don't jump on the Donovan bandwagon just yet, remember that Pitino is done coaching Louisville already and I would love to see him in a blue tie again. But if Pitino says no, Donovan would be a good second choice.

It's about time Kentucky got rid of Tubby. My wife has been saying for the past 9 years he's not a good coach. She knows her basketball. I think she could have done a better job then Tubby. She wanted Donovan to take Pitino place way back when. Look what he's done for Florida. Let's go after Dovovan. GO CATS!

For all of you who are extatic about Tubby Smith's departure from U.K. I have this to say. GROW UP! So what that U.K. hasn't been to a final four or won a national title since 1998. There are may great teams out there that have never been to the final four, period. Can you imagine how boring it would be if U.K. won every game and every tournament title including the SEC and NCAA. It wouldn't be worth watching if that happened. It appears that most U.K. fans expect that. In my opinion, Tubby Smith has done a fine job at U.K. and his record speaks for itself. I also must mention that just because U.K. lost in the second round of the tourney for the second year in a row that, guess what, life on the planet will continue. U.K. fans need a wake up call. Basketball is a GAME. It is not life. And there are other teams, great teams, other than the mighty U.K. Wildcats. U of L is a good basketball team. I also support Chris Lofton and Tennessee (too bad they lost last night to #1 Ohio State). But do you think that Bruce Pearl is going to be forced to resign because of that loss. I don't think so. I used to be a big fan of U.K. basketball, but when I was watching the news later that night it was the BIG STORY and took up the first ten to fifteen minutes of the broadcast. It appeared that U.K.'s win was more important that who died that day in a fire or car accident. Does anyone else see what is wrong with this picture?

as a transplanted alabama football fan, i have no problem understanding the uk coaching situation. uk is NOT just another basketball school. lofty expectations are the norm here, and they should be . leave the 20 win seasons to the others. i hope tubby does well and is happy in minnesota. kentucky is giving itself a chance to be what it should be.........a winner, not just a good basketball progam. cat fans have done what all true fans do.........demand excellence and be willing to pay for it. GO CATS(and ill sneak in a roll tide)

I agree that not everyone lives and dies on the Big Blue, but that is true for every school. I certainly don't live and die based on Florida. Also, with the parity in basketball today, there is no way that any school will dominate basketball again like KY and UCLA did at one time. Why Donovan? Well, for example, last year, FL won the national championship. The first home game this season, and the FL arena, was only about two thirds full. I realize they were playing a patsy, but a school that really eats, sleeps and breaths basketball, would have had that place packed to the gills and it only seats about 12,000. Dovovan, will never be the king pin at FL, but at UK, if he can do what he has done at FL, he will be the king. This is what will make him leave FL, if anything does. It won't be the money.

Wake Up. Tubby was and still is a good coach, the problem is the fans. The constant pressure of Alumni working the players and fans working against him as a coach left him no alternative but to take his Class Act somewhere else and leave Lexington without any class at all. Someone mentioned Legacy, please; alot of schools have legacy's. UCLA, DUKE, Kansas, Indiana..etc, however Kentuckians have the WELFARE mentallity that everyone owes them respect because they won some NCAA basketball championships...WRONG. You have to earn respect, and judging by the reaction most UK fans had toward Tubby over the years, you just took a step back. PUT THE TRUTH OUT THERE. Alot of the problem you kentuckians had with Tubby is that he was Black. Deny it all you want, but its true and all the recruits know it. Adolph Rupp still exist in Lexington.(read his book,oh sorry forgot about your state ranking the lowest in math and reading comp. Maybe you can go across the river and have someone read it to you). Scream and hollar all you want but remember this.
YOU are not the real BIG BLUE...That would be Kansas.
YOU DO NOT HAVE AS MANY TITLES AS UCLA therefore they are College Basketballs real Legacy.
and no one fears going into Rook (I mean Rupp)Arena because telivision exposes even the dirtiest officials.
Oh yes, the most feared home court in NCAA Basketball belongs to DUKE.
So wake up Lexington, its 2007 and if you want to play with the big boys then stop insisting people crown you Queen of the ball when you constanly act like the ugly stepsister. You cant win games on yesterdays memories.
