I attended the University of Kansas and am a long time fan. I live in the Pacific Northwest, but I still try to follow KU basketball. I've grown frustrated with the performance of Coach Self's teams. I'm sort of "out of the loop" out here, but I suspect that plenty of people feel the same. My impression was that there was poor chemistry between the coach and some of the players that he inherited from Roy Williams which culminated in them essentially quitting on him at the end of his second season. Since that time, he has seemed to recruit players who have excellent talent and who seems to be good people, but the teams still seem to be inconsistent and disappointing (as evidenced by two first round losses in March Madness and losses to two unranked teams this year).

Coach Self may feel that it "doesn't even deserve a reply" when national commentators suggest that the Jayhawks have been a disappointing team, but I feel that many of the team's fans feel the same way.

I have recently heard comments about Bill Self not being the right Coach for Kansas because he seemingly cannot pull great talent together.
Hey, I am one of those fans who yell and scream if the Jayhawks aren't winning by 20 points but I can't belive that Bill Self isn't the right coach for Kansas.
We are definitely a spoiled lot.
Roy Williams couldn't do it either until he went to North Carolina.
What does this mean?
Bill Self is a great coach and in todays college game, anyone can beat anyone when the desire is there but you can take people just so far.
Has anyone been noticing Brandon Rush. Don't tell me you didn't notice that he was just along for the ride until recently.
Mario Chalmers had to break out and learn that he is the leader of this team instead of letting Collins outperform him.
This seems to be what is happening now.
Every team has an incubation period and not everybody understands their roles especially when everyone seems to be unselfish.
I see Brandon Rush now realizing that he plays for a team with great tradition and that he has star potential and that he needs to play like an unselfish star.-Create plays and lead by example.
Mario Chalmers has broken out and is now playing like a leader.
I believe we have the team to win the national championship and everyone should also try and remember that the competition is fierce.
Now if Bill Self is not the coach for Kansas, then why are we still winning and having great seasons and, who should be the coach?
