Sounds like he would fit in nicely with the Pacers. Maybe he needed the money to pay his tattoo artist!

Doesn't matter the reason. it happened and it sounds like it is being dealt with. Why must every comment be so negative. Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? Didn't think so.

Let's see a follow-up story on what happens to the Summit League employee that sent 2 checks to the same kid.

Clerical mistake? Not sure why he got suspended. Money was given to charity. Need to address the process of how two checks got mailed. Now if he submitted two sets of the same receipts then the punishment is understandable.

Why wasn't this reported on Thursday or even yesterday, when it was actually news?

Myles Brand would have personally had Montgomery wear a dog collar and lick his glove but he was away at a New World Order meeting.

I think any college student would cash any check in their mailbox... it's not like he shot someone outside a bar, raped a fellow student, or spewed racial epithets at another player like other college athletes have done recently.

Take a look at their reporting on IUPUI basketball - it's pretty evident The Star editors aren't at all interested in covering it.

ive known austin and his father kenny since he played at garfield youth center.he is good clean kid.he is not the"tatoo" type or a thug.most kids would cash the check no matter what.kenny was a marion co. allstar back in the 70s when perry just opened.he was perrys first major athlete that got state recognition.austin could have borrowed money from anybody on the southside if he needed it.im sure it was honest because he has to much at stake.ya dont get to many white boys from indy with his toughness and desire to succeed.he has pro potential, not the nba,but somewhere over seas or a developmental leauge

If it was a duplicate check, why didn't the bank catch it and why didn't IUPUI or whoever issued it put a stop on it? Why is this kid having to pay for a clerical error???
