It's a good hire for Ball State. Horrible for IUPUI though.

It appears that contracts mean nothing to either Ron Hunter or Ball State. Poaching is what it is called I think.

This is a great hire for Ball State. So much so that perhaps it will make people forget about the debacle that was / is Ronny Thompson.

BSU is making this hire a year too late. They should've gone after Hunter for the 2006-7 season.

I think he'll become very popular at BSU. He's the type of coach they like there - outgoing, personable, and a bit outrageous.

It does suck he'll be leaving IUPUI. I went to several games there just to watch him storm the sidelines up close. He'll be able to pull those second tier recruits that BSU has been losing to other schools, though.

Well if there was no "poaching" most coaches wouldn't be at the schools they are at today. This happens all the time.

Ball State requested and received permission to speak to Hunter.

If IUPUI was really serious about Div. I basketball they would build a decent gym. Many high schools have better facilities....

Ron Hunter is such a class guy. Hoosier basketball fans should be thankful he is a t least stying in state. IUPUI knew this day was coming; how loyal should Hunter be? He coaches in a middle-school level facility that doesn't rise to the level of inadequate. He has stayed longer than most other coaches of his talent would. Good luck to coach Hunter. Ball State will be fortunate if they can hire him.

Good hire. BSU lost a lot more than 11 games last year though.

Hmmm... And somehow BSU is supposed to be an upgrade to IUPUI? I guess they do have a bigger building... And... uh... there's probably something else that would make BSU preferable, but I'm missing it.

And I'm even a BSU Alum!

After suffering for the last few years of Buckley then Thompson this is a welcome change. Who in the administration borrowed Mr. Peabody's thinking cap?

It is about time this class act gets a shot at a mid-major conference or better school. Congrats Ron!

Why are you knocking the middle schools???

That gym is an embarrassment to the university. I donít blame him for leaving and I am sure they will have a tough time finding anybody worthwhile to replace him.

Ron Hunter is about the best BSU is going to get. They aren't going to get some top tier basketball coach. Ron Hunter is not at that level yet and BSU is lucky to get him.

Coach Hunter would be sorely missed at IUPUI. He's made the mens basketball program what it is today. I'm always proud to watch him and his team.

I don't think BSU would be an upgrade in any way.

NOOOOOOO! Well, it was bound to happen. We'll really really really miss Hunter if this deal goes through. Maybe if we had committed to building a real gym instead of staying with our grade-school-reject facilities, he might have thought twice. We'll never know.

It's supposed to be a school, for cying out loud. Why do we need another taxpayer supported basketball monument?
