Todd Lickliter has proven that you can be successful without being plastic; more substance than style. That's a refreshing rarity these days. Iím very happy a career-crowning opportunity presented itself to such a clearly capable guy who has definitely paid his dues.

Ha, your kidding right? He is making what... 12x more per year then he was last year. Nobody and I meen Nobody turns down 1.2M a year coming from a Mid-Major school. Chill out man, get a life and wake up and accept reality.

I thought he was very complimentary of Butler.

The Lickliter's sound like great people, not saying the Alford's aren't, but Steve could've left the monster ego at the door.

What an idiot you are... and you may pretend to be a BU fan but I think that abbreviation should stand for Bulls*** rather than Butler.

One chance in a lifetime to really make big, big dollars, a man with a family and a unique talent...Do you really expect us to believe that you would turn down a 500% pay increase?

Way to go, Coach Lick... we're pulling for you all the way.

And looking forward to another great coach who can keep Butler winning, even if he is so successful that he, too, can't afford to spend his life in a mid-majors conference.

We need to start thinking of Butler as the "Cradle of Coaches" just like Miami (Ohio) University uses that line to identify their role in training great college football coaches.

Thank God the snake oil salesman is gone. Welcome to Iowa City, Todd! It will be nice to have a coach who doesn't throw his players under the bus.

Iowa basketball will be back! That is good for the Big Ten.

As a Hawkeye Fan, I cannot tell you in Indianapolis how thrilled we are to get this guy. I feel bad for Butler, but I guess being the cradle of coaches for men's basketball can have it's upside as well.

Any discussion of Barry Collier taking back over? I know his life in Nebraska was miserable, but he shouldn't feel bad- Nebraska is a miserable school and state with an overextended opinion of itself.

Alford was suspose to make Iowa into a power, but he didn't. I'm glad he is gone. I hope Lickliter can do it.
