He's definitely going to a better school, and superior basketball program. Now I need to learn how to recruit from campus...

I thought Sr. was on record saying that Arizona was out of the picture because they expected Jason Gardner to be an NBA player, not play overseas.

I guess player development wasn't a deciding factor for the family afterall, as Kelvin Sampson hasn't sent any guards (that have played for him) to the league.

Bush league to announce this late in the ball game.

Completeley awesome, if true. Suggest we wait till a document is signed and in a blastproof safe, however.

Indiana mortgaged all past success when they hired Sampson, and adopted the "win at all costs" mentality. Enough of Eric Seniors' buddies had been given jobs at IU, that this was inevitable. EJ will fit in nicely with Sampson.

Wayne, you're an idiot. Big Ten teams don't play each other three times a year. You obviously don't know squat.

Some of you Indiana natives are pathetic. This is supposed to be a basketball state, and instead you dis and dog a coach that is attempting to return the Hoosier's program to its glory days. You can mock KS's resume and his lack of success in the tourney, but to accuse him of unethical practices in recruiting a much needed boost in a recently disappointing program is worse than our program ever hiring MD as coach. Be supportive and give KS a chance before your rip him a new one. I have faith in him and our program, and landing EJ sure helps with the faith part ;-)

I hope they give Sampson a raise for getting Gordon. He's going to need it because of all the money he's spending to get these recruits.

I guess I will start with ... he just landed Eric Gordon. After that, well, ummmmmm. How about his teams play hard and right?

In case you missed the last 6 months, Sampson didn't open the recruiting, the Gordons did (as is and was their right). Read his fathers comments about why the switch was made. Couldn't be a much better explanation. Eric and his family felt that it was in his best interests (outside of basketball) to attend IU. How refreshing is that in a day and age where most if not all top 50 players make decisions based upon national television exposure, guaranties of starting spots, etc. I'm not saying that he won't have those things at Indiana, but his father's comments should be taken at face value and IU should not be ashamed to welcome him to campus.

The controversy behind Sampson and his lack of ethics hits a new milestone. I don't know why IU wanted this coach, but they are stuck with him. Stealing the bride at the altar doesn't score points with his coaching peers.

I guess honoring a commitment means nothing to the Gorodns. This shows his classless lifestyle and it will be a good fit with Sampson!!

Wow, this is really a surprise. After leading Bruce Webber and the Illini fans on for months by continually saying he was committed to Illinois... He now announces his change on the day practice starts; on the grand stage of the national media. All along this family has been called out for their scripted actions. Now this...coincidence? This is truly unfortunate the way the family played this. Keeping Webber hanging on until literally the last moment. "Without his word, a man has nothing"

Awesome!!!!!!! It's great that FINALLY some great talent from Indiana will stay at home and go to IU. I hope Eric coming to IU will be a sign of getting future great Indiana talent at IU from now on! Thanks, Eric!!! Welcome home!

My question is - how quickly will Rose commit now? This is the first (and biggest) domino.

First i want to say i was all for sampson when they signed him. I say fair game for anyone who hasn't signed. Is it that wrong for a 18 year old kid to change his mind about where he spends his next fours years of school, or maybe in gordon case one or two.

Second, obviously big ten teams play each other only twice during the season, but did you think that maybe they could meet in the conference tournament or the ncaa tournament. talk about not knowing squat
Thank you Eric Gordon

It is truly sad for people to come on here and be so negative about this situation. Hasn't everyone one of us at one time or the other change our minds about something. I mean come on even if he made a solid committment for a year, some of us have keep jobs for years knowing that we would quit if the right person recruited us elsewhere with the right opportunity. So, come on people lets cut this kid a break and wish him a healthy and happy basketball career now and in the future

I have no problem with you changing your mind, but do you really expect people to believe that you did not make this decision weeks ago? Why did you have to lead Coach Weber on for months, when you knew you would not attent U of I? Were you deliberatley trying to ruin his recruiting class?

Good luck with Sampson and his 45 points per game offense.

If your word is the best thing that you have, then the Gordons don't have much.
