My wife and I, born and raised in Indiana, moved to Ohio in 1958,have followed the Hoosiers for all these years (I am 80). I know we have to take the good with the bad but whoever made or makes these stupid decisions needs to go. Should not have fired Bob Knight, never should have hired Davis, and to to hire a coach (a good coach) who they knew had broken NCAA rules wasn't a very good decision. Politicallly correct? Probably. That should stop. The players were obviously rebelling against the decision to fire Sampson.
Some kind of penalty should have been made against those players who simply did not play up the their ability.

Good grief!!!! How sad for the State of Indiana and the best fans in the world.

I can agree with everything you said concerning the decisions made by Greenspan. He's an idiot and the guy who will hire your next coach. That's really scary. I would disagree with your statement about the fans. About half of them are knowledgeable of basketball and good fans. My best friend on earth fits in this category. The other half are just sad, uneducated excuses for fans. They piss off every college basketball fan in the nation with their moronic comments.

I think the parallel some folks try to draw between this team and Michigan is pretty thin. If I recall, that situation involved Bill Frieder turning his back on the Wolverines in order to take a job elsewhere, and Bo Schembechler stepping in and removing him in favor of someone who actually wanted to be there.

IU's case involves removing a coach that was popular among the players, and not listening to their input on who should take over. I can't really fault Dakich for this, Greenspan (who is DEFINITELY no Bo Schembechler) bungled the whole process of removing Sampson.

Other teams had heart breaking losses by one in their tournaments as well. Our guards need to hit their shots better then they have been lately. It is not like they are not trying. EJ is a great player but he has not played like a lottery pick in the last eight games or so. A number of his points have come from drives to the basket and being fouled. Lately too many of those drives (and Armen plus Jordan's) have have been wild. He has taken the ball too deep before he realizes that he doesn't have a shot at the layup and if he is not fouled the ball is a turn over or missed shot. It appears that he has been trying to take control but his shot has not been there. I notice that the team does not look to pass to him enough so that when he has the ball he can pass off and expect it back with a better shooting angle. Too often when one of our guard has the ball they don't like to pass it around quickly they hold it looking for a one on one opportunity. We need more total team involvement and better ball movement on offense. It would help if the drop gods would help a little as well. I personally would like to make a strong recommendation that IU fans boycott reading and writing a reaction to that dirt bag Bob K's articles in the Star. He is a nasty anti IU writer who should not get our respect nor the acknowledgment that people read or care about what he has to say. Hate seeing that classless Bruce Weber in the finals. Twenty five schools have contacted Ebanks and he has not officially reopened his recruiting and he is a signed player. Time for the media to drop the EJ recruiting story. On top of that illini football bragged about signing players that orally committed elsewhere. Lets hope we can put together a run in the big tourney.

The more we see of Gordan, the more we see how fundamentally unsound his game is. A perfect fit for the NBA...

I stated long ago that Indiana would be known as an
academic institution NOT a sports school. Now I
have to issue and enforce a penalty for the failings
of Coach Sampson. Oh geez. I love this job.

Billy, you've shown once again you have a memory of convenience. Yeah IU is rated, but over rated to try to justify several years of really poor and dishonest decisions.

#6 or #7

IU was ranked somewhere around #20 with an RPI around #23 before the bad loss to Minnesota. So based on that alone you would say the best case is a #6 seed. Now factor in that the committee also takes into consideration the trend over the last 12 games and you would think they are likely to downgrade the Hoosiers - I think IU is maybe 7-5 over the last 12 games, and something like 8-6 on the road/neutral sites, plus factor in a notoriously weak non-conference schedule and a notoriously weak year for the Big Ten. So I would think #7 is a likely bet,#6 if the committee feels charitable.
