Are you surprised by this? You got rid of the coach in the most critical time of the season. Everybody wanted that.. every body got it. So you can't really complain can you??
Honestly, I'll be surprised if they win a game in the dance.

Indiana? Totally disorganized and back to standing at the three point line, watching teammates playing one on one.

I saw Jordan Crawford standing with his hand on his hip at the three point line watching Gordon fruitlessly trying to drive through three guys again. I wondered whether Mike Davis was coaching.

One more time Gordon, you're not in high school anymore. I don't care how many free throws you made, you missed the critical one tonight. I also assume you had more turnovers than field goals tonight.
No surprise here

You're right on target, Kravitz. And until Purdue learns to make free throws in the clutch, they're going to experience nights like this. And IU...at least we'll have that home win over Purdue to remember. Not much else, but at least we've got that.

Its sad to say but IU is going down the drain. This is coming from one of the biggest IU supporters in all of college sports. Come on guys you have got to START PLAYING BALL AGAIN!!!

four missed free throws, in the last seconds of the game, kept IU from advancing. sad, really sad! since ks was ousted, the team has been flat and playing like they don't give a flying flip whether they win or not. i feel for dakich, who was put in a bad position and has dealt with nothing but disrespect, especially from certain players, from the get-go. these players need to realize that in the grand scheme of things, all they are there to do is play ball. you may not like who was named coach, but, you respect who is there and play up to your potential. the one person who these boys respected the most, has caused the most harm and could care less what happens the rest of the season. their loyalty to sampson is so misplaced it sickens me! they've totally lost sight of the fact that if sampson truly cared for them, in the first place, he wouldn't have taken the chance doing what he did. they want to be angry at someone, be angry at ks, not dakich. he was just a pawn in this whole mess, too.

Tough loss for the Boilers. Purdue has a future; IU has an anonymous donor.

If Painter doesn't watch it he will be another all choke coach like Keady. Get lots out of them in the season and again when it counts. This from a Purdue fan

This is a very insightful well thought out and written article.

I like most IU fans am bewildered but not surprised by the loss to Minnesota last night.

I just wish that these young men would wake up and smell the roses before its to late. They have one last chance at redeption, and that is the NCAA tournament. I would like to ask any of the players that might read this to do an introspective and realize that they have this one last opportunity to still turn things around and make a statement in the upcoming tournament. Don't do it for me, don't do it for Sampson, Dakich or anyone else, just do it for yourself and the team.

you lost them with the word "introspective...."

Is anyone thinking what I am thinking - that these kids are going to lose as revenge for firing their beloved cheat of a coach.

Lindy, you must also be a tree hugger. You can not just expect the world to be better and hope it happens. You can not command anyone to respect anyone else. People earn respect. Most people are not motivators. Dakich neither commands respect nor has the talent to motivate. Dakich may know basketball and may really want to be the IU coach, but that doesn't make him a good coach. If what you saw last night is what you will be satisfied with for the distant future, make your first requirement for a coach, someone with IU/Indiana roots.

Place the blame where it belongs; Sampson AND Greenspan. As for the players they don't want to play for IU; See ya!

Ray McCallum should have been picked as coach following Sampson's ouster. While at Ball State, McCallum owned Dakich when he was at Bowling Green. I wonder how that "anonymous donor" feels this morning.

I'm glad I missed it. Our Hoosiers are finished. But I did enjoy watching Hoffarber's winning shot at ESPN.com . I'm almost glad for MN. IU did not deserve to win that game. It will be interesting to see who IU draws tomorrow knowing they will soon join the ranks of Cleveland State and Richmond as teams who sent IU home in the first round.

If I was IU I would pull heir scholarships. They came to play ball not fall in love with a coach.

It doesn't make any difference who is coaching, McCallum or Dakish. IU players have to hit the free throws. How many did we miss? A coach cannot go out on the floor and shoot for the boys. Missed free throws put the dagger in this game.

Let me get this straight. PU,finished 2nd in the Big Ten and is ranked 17Th in the polls loses to a #10 sead and gets a "wake-up" call. While IU who finished below PU in the season (3rd) and is ranked below PU in the polls (22nd) and was beat by higher seed (#6) is "lost". Another nice fair non-bias column Crapist. Good thing you are paid to express your opinion. If you were paid to be sports writer you would be in line next Sampson looking for a job. I do like the addition of your picture to your column. It leaves less room for you to spread the crap you call a oolumn.

Where was Tubby Smith when IU hired that snake-oil salesman?

DeAndre Thomas (and DJ of course) were the only 2 players I watched who really went after it last night. Congratulations - that speaks well for them.

Again, the Three Stooges - Bassett, Crawford and Gordon threw up three's with dismal results (1-12). If Gordon goes 2 possessions w/out getting the ball - you can bet he will jack a three within seconds of whenever he does see it.

Ellis - wow - he played the most effortless 17 minutes I've seen from him all year. Not one shot taken. Totally out of it - why did he start?

Stemler is a senior Co-Captain who at least hustles - he played 3 minutes and took 1 shot.

Its a shame Dakich is still trying to be camp counselor - he was hired to be Head Coach. Sit these guys if they don't execute! Screw it!

I'd rather watch Taber,Stemler, Ahfeld, DJ and Thomas lose trying than this clown act shoot lame threes all night.

Good night John Boy...good night Mary Ellen... good night Gordon...good night Dakich...good night Hoosiers...good night IU faithful...

Why hasn't Greenspan been fired yet? Dakish has worked his way out of the head coaching job and IU will not win their first round NCAA game.

Strip this whole operation down and start over next year. IU will not field a decent team until 2011.
