there is no family. the Bob Knight years are over. Get over it. Don't hire Dan "50% losses at Bowling Green" Dakich. No Way!

Typical response from a Knight loyalist. I hate Mike Davis, but he did not "stab" Knight in the back. Jadlow you are an idiot.

Another RMK Kool-Aid drinker ! But Im sure with the stature of Jadlow, his influence on Indiana basketball history, the university will pay heed to his advice and do whatever he says.

"There's no place like home! There's no place like home." Stay in Kansas, Jadlow, and keep your inane comments there, too.

Dakich? Hmm, he won barely 50 percent at BGSU including five mediocre seasons before he left, and he's hardly earned the job at IU at this point. Haven't you noticed that, Jadlow? IU can and should do better this time. And no more cheaters like Coach Sanctions, okay, RG?

Let's finally bring Alford back home!

Bob Knight graduated from Ohio State. At least Mike Davis' team played BETTER, not WORSE, under a new coach. Oh well, if the fact that Dakich is an IU alum helps you to sleep better at night oh well.

I just wish the guys figure out how to play basketball again before the start of the tournament.

The effective end of the IU basketball season occurred during the last Illinois game. Ellis was correctly assessed a technical foul. In reaction, he started yelling in Dakich's face. Instead of taking Ellis by the arm and setting him down, Dan stood there and took it. Thus was determined the leadership of the team.

Actually, Bobby Knight hails from Ohio State University. I have been wondering if he picked up some of his side-line antics, by watching Woody Hayes coach the football team.

Better in a sense we had the first losing season in how many years? You're a tard...
The players coached themselves through the first two years and Treloar helped. Davis is as inept as they come.

Yeah, let's just ignore the fact that he is a terrible head coach! As long as he is in the 'IU Family', right? What a load of crap!

Todd, do you ever wonder why Knight loyalists are ridiculed so much? What an idiotic letter. To support or not support Indiana student athletes because of who their coach is is the most immature stance one can take. Wasn't Knight supposed to teach you all character? If the "family" is represented by people like you, then IU should do the right thing and hire a new coach as far outside of it as possible.

They need to go talk to Ron Hunter at IUPUI. He has fire and intesity and character, everything that IU fans want in a coach.

And while it is a little off topic, where is the love for IUPUI. All we hear about is Butler being one win away from getting a spot in the field, but they are already in. How about some love to a team that really is one win away from getting in.

"For the first time since Coach Bob Knight's dismissal, the Indiana basketball program has my support."
I can't tell you how much statements like that bother me. No matter what you think of the coach, the way the former coach was treated, etc., you should still support the program. The players, managers, training staff and others involved with IU basketball deserve nothing less, especially from a former player who knows all the hard work that goes into being a part of a college basketball program.

Yo, Todd. The IU hoops "family" consists of more than just The Mentor and his ex-players. A lot of us who would like to see both the honor and the glory restored to our program aren't convinced that Dan is up to restoring the latter. He's a classy guy, no doubt about that, but his record simply doesn't support the claim that he's a great coach.

If we have to have a "family member" at the helm to get your support, I'd rather go with Steve Alford, Randy Wittman or Mike Woodson, all of whom seem more likely to get the program back to where it was before RMK began mailing it in that Dan is. But bearing in mind that RMK himself wasn't a family member when we hired him, I'd rather bring some new blood into the family, through somebody like Tony Bennett or Brad Brownell.

You have to be kidding. Dakitch is a disaster as a coach. I respect the heck out of the guy for all he gave to IU as a player, but come on. Anyone watching the Penn State game could see he's not the man for the job.

I'm not defending Davis. At the same time he took a mediocre IU team to the Final Four. That same team coached by Bobby wouldn't have been anywhere near Atlanta in April. If that just meant the players liked him so well they "willed" themselves to the big game so be it. What does that say about how much they cared to play for Bobby?

Dakich has been coach for the last few weeks and these guys don't seem to be responding. I hope he proves me wrong this weekend and in the weeks ahead, but so far I haven't been impressed to the point of not wanting to look at potentially better alternatives.

Negatory! They all spout about his record at Bowling Green but fail to realize that University has no intrest, and holds none for recruits in basketball. I would think former player's opinions of a coach would hold some weight.

His record at a mid level college was just over 50%.

Thanks but no thanks.
