Rose is a fan of 'Queer Eye?' Kidding.

Fifteen years hasn't give me any warm fuzzies for the Fab Five. I think they ushered in an era of the worst in college (and NBA) hoops: over-the-top trash-talking, gross commercialism and, ultimately, shame for their program. I'd suggest we can credit much of the decline in sportsmanship in today's game to the Five. Any of Wooden's UCLA teams could've run circles around them, both in terms of class and playing style.

didnt care for them then---dont care for them now.

Hey Jalen--how is that career holding out? What? Almost as useless as Michigan honoring you?

Fab Five? What a bunch of cheaters getting paid to play college basketball. Kind of reminds me of the UCLA players under Wooden.

While the federal charges against Chris Webber didn't help bolster the Fab5's image for college hoops, you really can't take what they achieved away from them. IMO, it's not their fault that they got taken in by all the glits and glamour the booster pushed upon them. Okay, so three of them essentially got "paid" to play college ball. But do you really think an 18, 19, 21 yr old young man fresh out of high school can pass up the money that was offerred - over $100,000 dollar to either himself or his family in one case? You'd think that after all that time they were getting "paid", somebody in accounting or even in the athletics department would have noticed something was up! I don't blame the boys; I blame the university!

In correcting their mistake, the univiersity took a big hit. Taking down the banner probably was the right thing to do, but I commend Jalen for doing something to honor the competitive spirit his college teammates displayed during that era of their basketball lives. Their achievement, though forever tarnish, was remarkable.

15 years from now maybe we can look back at the Sampson Era with the same nostalgia.
