Let's face it. No one cares about Keefer and 600 wins. He's kind of like Barry Bonds and the home run record. Everyone who follows Indiana high school basketball knows that he's cheated his way to 600 wins by recruiting throughout the state. You can't help but wonder how many wins and state championships Keefer would have if he'd just played his home grown kids.....

Lawrence Central sports continue to decline needlessly and it continues to hurt the school. We need a new AD and new principal. We have the same demographics as Pike, yet they have found a way to field successful football and basketball teams.

Lawrence does have solid Baseball and Track, but both those coaches have been there for years developing their programs and in the case of baseball they benefit from the very successful Skiles Test and Fall Creek leagues, not from the hard work on an AD.

It is wonderful to see coach Keefer get his 600th win, but it is a shame how he has come about this milestone. His constant recruitment of other schools' athletes has definitely put an asterisk next to his coaching wins. If he is happy with the way he has won and he can live with that; the more power to him. He has paved his own path.

Uh, the AD and the Principal have nothing to do with our struggles. Try having a campus landlocked to the point that new facilities are an impossibility. The demographics argument is moot - come to call out meetings or first day of tryouts for any sport...for whatever reason, the LC populous are not athletes. Do you think the boys who loast last night would have done better with a new AD and principal?

Keefer you have a freshman 7'0, sophmores 6'7 or taller, juniors 6'7 or taller, senior 6'7

Come on Keefer how lucky can you get.
Last night I wasn't to impressed with your teams performance. Keefer half of that height you really didn't pull off the bench last night until the last quarter. How, can you bring yourself to recruit all that talent and leave that talent sitting on the bench. This has went on for years. I'm sure half of those players could have went and played for another school. You recruit these players and they come play for you and you make them sit the bench. Talk emotional abuse. It's not looking to good on your part. You say that you love basketball dearly and you love your players. Well, I hate to see how you treat your family members.

Also is it true that you own some apartment? Do any of your players families live in them?

You are hurting these kids. But, hey it's always been about JACK KEEFER.

You are such a user

Keefer hey what happened last night. I didn't see to much of that talent in height last night. Did you over do it? Heck, half of your height sat on the bench last night. You get them and you leave them. Are using people right now. Keefer I think Im going to put you in the same club with the I.U coach. Come on where are all the players with the height. You made it seem like we were going to see all tree's on the floor.

We have the same kids as Pike and facilities don't make good athletes. As a whole LC lacks disipline. Everyone is afraid if you push these kids they will quit. Pike has shown that is not the case, push them and they will perform. Our call outs are a joke because they don't promote our programs at the middle schools and our communications are terrible. The AD should be promoting at the middle schools, the coaches and principals should be holding kids to standards.

And besides, we are the Lawrence Band Magnet, and LN is the athletics magnet. Our AD needs to make a stand, why does LN gets the State Champ football coach from Chatard and a good B-ball coach. We get untested guys.

Yeah, I heard the samething. I do think it needs to be reported to IHSAA. I bet if several people would start complaining they would have to do something about it. The kid should not be able to continue out the season. I know who you are talking about. I asked the same question last night at the game.

Middle schools in Lawrence Township are horribly coached. I've seen better coaching in rec leagues for youths by a bunch of dads. Belzer is exceptionally bad, but Craig is also poorly coached. Craig has better players (not necessarily athletes) which is why they'll usually beat Belzer.

I'm not rally sure that Keefer is bright enough to recruit. I think it is the players' dads who choose to move their basketball player sons into the LN district because they think that will lead to their sons getting full-ride athletic scholarships from colleges. Unfortunately, there is no rule against that if these dads move their sons in while the boys are in middle school.

Schools attended:

Belzer Middle School ( Lawrence Township)
Julian ( Chicago )
Bloomington South
Lawrence North Highschool

Those are the schools but I don't know the exact order
