i thought we needed a banger, not a bi guy to sit at the three point line..we needed a big bruising banger to pound it inside, grab the rebounds, block shots, play great defense...this guy is only talking about shooting from outside..we already have a ton of great outside shooters mr. cook..we need inside play....more post play to take pressure off of howard...there already is plenty of shooters man...tuffing up and get low, down inside man..bang..bang..

Cook has a good jump shot but he does not play defense...he seems to wait for his shot and does not create..his game will do much better in the magic system because they will look for him and kick it out when the others are double teamed down low...Lakers have enough offense and what they need is defense so this works out for both teams as long as cookie doesn't get rattled and makes the shot when it comes to him..but don't expect him to defend anyone.. he sucks at that but is a great mid range player with accurate shooting ability..he also does not rebound offensively and sucks under the basket for a dude that is 6-9" ...as for evans he is a great all around player and a terrific 6 man comming off the bench to give the starters some rest...we had to get rid of him to develope our younger players...namely Farmer, and we haven't even played Jarvis yet so this is what I am talking about...he is also a work hard type of dude and very much a team player...one of the best qualities about him is his attitude, always positive and comes from not one but two great organizations that I know about (Detroit and LA) now the question is how good is Azira? Did we get burned or is this guy going to lock down on Parker and D. Williams? I think realistically he will need the rest of this year to learn the triangle and gell with the team...he doesnot come across as a high basketball IQ type like Walton or Farmer...someone out there tell us what we got..give us the pros and cons...
Key word with Ariza is potential. He has the potential to be a lockdown defender, but come on - if he was already capable of shutting down elite opposition, he wouldn't have been traded.

At this stage, I would say the following things are true of Ariza:

1) Always gives 100%, especially defensively
2) Tough
3) Very good rebounder

However, the following is true as well

1) No consistent jump shot
2) Solid slasher, but not a great passer, so if he is going to the rim, he has to finish, and at the moment his finishing in traffic is so-so.
3) Relies heavily on his athleticism. If he ever suffers a serious injury that robs him of his quickness or jumping ability, he is going to struggle.

All of that said, in the right system this guy could be great. If he works at his jump shot and passing, he will become a good offensive player. If he continues to develop on the defensive end, he could become a truly great defender.

what is otis smith thinking..we badly needed another big banger,badly..and he gets another outside shooter...he don't make a lot of sence ...get it together otis..we needed beef in the paint, not on the perimeter...garrity can't step outside as all the other shooters...your going to wear dwight howard down by mid season like this...

cookie is more mid range than outside shooter...he has the height for perfect mid range shot..and you are correct he is not a banger by any means...also his stats don't mesh this year because his shooting is much better than what is on paper this season...check out his carreer stats to verify....he never made it into the rotation because radman is playing better and shooting better since he recovered from his accidental slip on ice...i mean snow boarding...so therfore the minutes were not falling into his lap like last year..also i think mitch knew this was going to happen and signed him for an extension just to use him for trade bait down the line, like he just did for the magic...sorry magic fans but this was a move that was in the making for quite awhile, if not your team someone elses...mitch was waiting for the perfect scenereo to throw the card down...by the way I am not a mitch fan either but a Dr. Buss fan...poker champion

ill give cook the benefit of the doubt..but if he don't play defense and rebounding all out every single night..ill be the biggest guy to ripp him..if he helps us to a championship.then ill root for him..it's our time to make a major major push for the championship this year, not next year...orlando has to live up to a lot this year.set very high expectations..dwight is a solid leader..and he has become very vocal this year if you watch him..and he is playing with a chip on his shoulder.i'm very excited of what i'm seeing out of dwight..he needs to not back down from duncan or shaq...take it to em all..he is the man from this year on!!!the best in the league...mean and nasty..we'll call him dnasty.....

yeah you fans got ripped off if ...
"otis chanting the whole time is we need another banger down low,a defender, rebounder, banger "
...and you got cookie...he is the opposite of this...in fact our guard "Sasha" has more inside presence than "cookie" you got ripped off like Magic Johnson ...they named a franchise after his popular name he got nothing for it....is that even legal? Maybe the next NBA franchise team will be called "shaq"/ ft. lauderdale or "kobe" /san diego

i want to see the young 22 year old Azira take out the offense of the Matrix , D Williams, Ginoboli,McGrady and Carmello....i don't care if the guy can shoot...we want him to develope into the premiere lock down dude of the league...maybe a poor man dennis rodman...someone to do the dirty work and not afraid to run the floor hounding these star players like no tomorrow...if he can't do that then we'll teach him how to shoot or to finish hard to the hoop...so i hope we didn't get ripped off...hey do you guys want another player point guard named "Sasha" to fill out the rest of your roster? throw in Arroyo because he is not working out either and we will call it a done deal...

"We have Garrity." Yeah, we have a worthless player who never could defend and whose shot left him three years ago. He takes up cap space and pine space.
