I'm appreciative of Time Warner Cable televising the game tonight. However, the picture quality was horrible! It looked like the game was being played in the dark! Also, while thankful that Howdy's was a game sponsor tonight, please make a new commercial. The one you keep showing on these game telecasts is so old!

Otherwise, great win for the Miners. Memphis beat UAB tonight, meaning UTEP and Memphis are tied for 1st in C-USA. Barring any letdowns, our showdown next month in the Don could be for the conference title again!

Great game Miners!! Great team work. Congrats to the basketball team and staff! Now, there is absolutely no excuse not to sell out the rest of the basketball games at home. These men are playing with their heart and soul. Let's all get out their and show the team how proud their community is for all their effort! GO MINERS!!

Went to the game and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a chance to talk with Coach Floyd, he was our Graduate Assistant Coach when I played for UTEP and Coach Haskins in 1979. UTEP was the better team tonight and won a physical, ugly game - would have made Coach Haskins proud. Miners are playing better defense each game and running the old Coach Haskin's offensive sets - great to see old school still working.
GO MINERS!

I was court-side at the UTEP/UAB game a few weeks back. This is a darn good basketball team. They play defense, and Coach Floyd rotates well. They can play, I think they'll get better, and peak at the CUSA tourney.

Go Miners! Way to play hard!!

It doesn't matter who takes the big shot as long as it goes in. Again, defense was the key to the game. Keep the pressure on Miners.

Isn't it great to see Haskin type defense again. You guys did a great job then and this group is carrying on the tradition under Coach Floyd. GO MINERS!!!

Stone was a beast with his rebounds, defense and the final shot. This is one good quality about this Miner team - if the focus of the other team is Randy, there are at least 3 other Miners who can step up and make the other guys pay.

That 3 was clutch as the clock ran down. Great road win and great to see UTEP again breaking out of the pack and in the lead as the season progresses.

Bo' had better get right with the coach or he'll be riding pine before the season ends. He comes out and throws up that shot and Floyd about screamed. Come on bo' get your head in the game.

Oh yeah and the haskins defense= If you hold the other team under 60 points you will win the game, and that is so true to this day. The bear was smiling last night.

It goes without saying that Stone and Culpepper were huge in this win, but Williams was just as big last night. He was aggressive from tip-off to finish. 15 points is what he should be scoring per C-USA contest. His defense has been steadily improving but he has seemed hesitant offensively, until last night. From the get go he looked to take the ball to the hole and most of his field goals were scored within the land of the trees. 7 for 7 at the line was also an impressive feat considering he shoots 65% from the line on the season. Before the season started I thought J Will was going to have a big year, but he's been mediocre at best and sometimes I don't even notice he's on the court. Last night is more of what I envisioned coming from him. Even though he's a senior, this guy still has tremendous upside. I hope he continues to consistently tap into it as the season progresses. We will need him to for us to have any chance at a tourey run, provided we have that opportunity. Great battle last night Miners.

Don't get too excited people...according to our resident expert (Steve rockport) the Miners (or Minors as he calls HIS team) should have won by 15. His words yesterday. So its not a big win by any means. Never mind that it keeps the Miners in 1st place and was a road victory where we have just won once in seven tries. We did not win by 15 against a team with a ranking of somewhere in the 500's or something. Lets anxiously await his next expert analysis to remind us that according to Sagrin we should have just walked all over Houston and they had no business being on the court with UTEP.

Great job Miners, Stone MVP as always, great to see the team all over Portalatin at the time-out after he got that huge rebound. I'll be there Wednesday...will you?

Can't blame the picture quality entirely on TWC. The Pavilion where Houston plays is ancient and has poor lighting for television. Much like the Don used too before they improved it.
