Julyan Stone and Wayne Portalatin were great. Elvin Hayes, on the other hand, was atrocious!

A gutsy road win for the miners. Not pretty but they found a way to win.

Gutsy win, any conference road win is huge. Great to see Portalatin have the poise NOT to foul when in fact that was what he was told to do. Huge rebound and even better, great to see the team surround him and give him his props at the time-out. Get out to the Don on Wednesday people!

Congratulations Miners! Every road win is on the plus side of the ledger! Got to protect home court! It will be crucial down the stretch;things will be close in the C-USA race as play winds down. Coach Haskins and now coach Floyd followed the philosophy of splitting on the road and protecting home court. Defense! Baby! Defense! GO! ORANGE! GO MINERS!

I agree nothing beats winning!I don't agree that Memphis gets in on past history and name. Calipari has been gone long enough where in my opinion Memphis must prove itself to build that respect again. They don't look so intimidating anymore. They are definitely good but not dominating as in the past! So keep your nose to the grindstone Miners! Defense! Baby! Defense! GO ORANGE! GO MINERS!

Portalatin comes in and makes a HUGE play for the Miners, he just saved the game !! Is just a great feeling to see this wild-bunch play like a team ! if is not Culpepper or Stone it could be Britten,Polk,Williams that will come-up Big at clutch time.. one thing is for sure they will be missed next season..Let us sell out the DON for the final home games and the C-USA Tournament.. this is a special group of Miners and deserve a great senior season.. GO MINERS !!!

Wow, I actually thought Portalatin the "foul machine" would do just that, but he was poised and it was another great call by CTF.

This conference is nuts, don't know what to make of USM, Marshall and UCF. UCF is prolly done which sux for us because that would have been a nice home win.

At this point, I can only see us and Memphis with a real shot to make it to the NCAAs, but we're gonna need a lot of wins because our OOC wins are junk.
Mich, Texas Tech, NMSU are terrible. Air Force may be our best OOC win and that's not saying much.

I agree with you that our OOC wins are not going to help us much come tourney selection time. We need to have another 15-1 or 14-2 C-USA record to have any at-large-bid consideration.
This conference IS nuts, man. I don't know what to make of ANY team in the league. The cellar dwellers have caused havoc of their own by knocking off what I took for granted as being upper echelon C-USA teams. I guess thats why they play the game!!!
I have to question why you leave UAB out of the mix of teams with a legit shot at making the tourney. You have UTEP and Memphis, both of whom UAB took into overtime, obviously one of which they beat, so why leave them out of the discussion? Just curious.

The only reason that UAB beat UTEP was that UAB had help from the officiating with their bad calls;otherwise UTEP would have won that game outright.

Even if that had a grain of truth to it, the point being was that UAB is right up there with UTEP and Memphis. I'm a 30+ year die hard Miner fan and I wonder what you think the league's officials have against UTEP. What is your claim based on other than speculation tainted by the fact that you obviously react emotionally when things don't go your way. Most people who make these claims have little to no athletic experience beyond middle school or at best, high school. Yes there were some botched calls...but as I saw it, we benefitted from a few of those botched calls. Face it, UAB played us well and we had trouble stopping Johnson. If we played 5 times this year, UAB would take at least one if not two of those games. I think UTEP is a better all around team but don't count UAB out. They earned that victory. Drop your conspiracy theories. They make UTEP fans sound ignorant.

Well said, the officiating did not cost the Miners the game at UAB and Coach Floyd and the players would be the very first ones to say that. Its done, now get out to the Don on Wednesday!

With Memphis playing as well as they are with 7 freshman (most who start or have a lot of minutes playing time ), 3 sophomores, 4 juniors and 1 senior, I would say they still have the respect and will not lose it anytime time soon. Go Miners.
