Wow, another loss not good.

Why did Kenny only play 7 mins? Hopefully Smithson is back against VMI.

I am not too concerned about us losing the Big South, because we got the tournament, but I want us to host it.

----**I am more concerned with us having more loses will make it harder to be a 13 or 14 and easy to become a 15 or 16. We need to get back on track so we don't have an impossible game.

Right now I would be more concerned about beating VMI on Saturday, not tournament seeding. If we don't get our act together pronto, we're going to find ourselves in the middle of the pack, fighting for even a first round home game..
Kenny plays and starts but only goes for 7 min.. this after "resting" for 2 games. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Kenny fan but come on. This "lets keep him ready for the tourney talk" is wearing thin. I know he's having slight knee issues right now, and I respect looking after his best long-term interests.. but the kid gloves have to come off at some point.
Lets hope Bryan's ankle is doing better, we need him for Saturday night. Go Dogs, beat the Keydets!!

Hot damn!
I knew this would happen. Playing VMI in front of a home crowd this weekend will hopefully get the 'Dogs back on track. Let's just hope the game off gives Bryan sometime to really recover.

More excuses....face it, reality has set in. All that hype, now the real team shows up. NCAA....yeah right,,,,,NIT...not a chance.

I think what we are seeing is the fact that UNCA doesn't work its secondary and bench into regular game play. Last night Eric Stubbs came on and looked lost, not knowing what play to run or where to stand. Several times veterans had to yell at him or gesture to tell him where to go. No disrespect for Eric; the criticism is aimed at the coaching staff.

Watch out. Eddie could lose this season if his starters continue to suffer injuries and he's prepared no one to step onto the court in their place.

I agree with Asheville native. This unpreparedness has to fall on the coaching staff. It was easy when we had Bryan and KJ playing 40 minutes, but it certainly is hurting us in the long run.

The two road losses hurt, but we are still first in the Big South, so all is not lost.

We just hope that we become healthy (George and Smithson) and right the ship. We're still first and IMHO so far the only rough patch of the season, all teams have downs, we just got to go back up.

All teams hit a rough patch. I agree. These games off for george and smithson will be good. George probly won't play the next game either. VMI is a fast team. I think they should try letting him get some time in. BUT if they use him for 5 seconds to get the win again, i am sure the BULLDOGS can live with that. GET HEALTHY DOGS!!!

OH YEAH> "unreal" Quit being a loser. ITs amazing how people that don't know anything about the game or the team can get on here and just say stupid things. GROW UP

Excuse me basketball expert. Just to set the record straight for you, I have been a head basketball coach for 7 years now, record is 120-48, so while I do not claim to know everything about the game (as your name implies) but I do know something about it. My comments had nothing to do with knowledge of the game. I have been reading posts from bullpuppie fans for weeks claiming this was a #12 seed at worst in the NCAA, or going to host a NIT game. When they play the quality teams in the league, they get bashed (admittedly Winthrop is having a down year). Now all I see here is excuses. Quality teams find ways to win when starters are hurt (injuries are part of it pal). The coaches are not doing their job if only 5 players are good enough to play. So don't question my basketball knowledge, just face reality. I suspect you are a bandwagon fan anyhow.

"unreal" you are a joke and we all know you are not a coach. You see, successful coaches (as you claim to be) have better things to do besides talking trash on the local Asheville newspaper website! Get a life.

unreal...

if you are a real head basketball coach (high school or higher) then you probably shouldn't be on here criticizing another coach and ripping another team...you might claim to know something about basketball, but obviously you don't know anything about how a head coach should conduct himself

I have a hard time believing a respected coach would lower himself to calling UNCA the "bullpuppies." But notice he didn't say where or what he coached. And I really doubt he will.

Don't really know what UNCA deserved to get all this hate from supposed basketball coaches, but whatever. We played two games on the road without our best player (Smithson went down early and was at maybe 50% against Liberty then did not play against High Point) and also have only gotten 7 minutes from Kenny George over the past month. All is not lost. At Liberty, at High Point and at Winthrop are going to be our toughest conference games of the season. Did I want to win them? Of course. But the season is not over. I can still see us securing the Big South tournament in Asheville. We just need to make sure our confidence remains intact.

UNREAL -
Any team is going to have a hard time playing without a starting who is the teams best player and arguably the best player in the conference. Bryan will be back with a vengeance against VMI.

Amazing what a little success will do for the fans of a basketball team. Easy to dish out harsh words, but can't take them. I sure know how to push their buttons. Good Luck UNCA, maybe you will win another game or two, but it will be a result of your efforts, not the support of these so called fans. I have critized the team and the coaches, but have not bad-mouthed any individual! Last post.

When did we ever say that our support was responsible for the success of the team? And what harsh words have we dished out?

Sounds like you are just making stuff up again.

If unreal wants to be like that I urge everyone to let him/her be. Maybe he or she is a Western fan or something, at 7-16, we can definitely understand that sort of frustration.

As for his coaching, I say good luck to him/her at HS women or men's basketball, D-II or D-III, AAU or even recreation league...

You're all hilarious.

First up, focus on Saturday as the tournament is a different situation all together. Losing two games in a row is not the end of the world, but it should illustrate to everyone that a conference title is not in the bag.

One player looks lost who doesn't play much is the coaches fault why? When during the season was he in for long stretches of play? How many games did UNCA dominate by 20 or more points to allow that? Secondly if any of you can read a score sheet you'll see that 10 or more kids went in every game. Mathematically that makes TWO teams right there. duh.

unreal is not a coach nor does he know basketball. but he does know funny cause i've been laughing.

george is hurt. smithson is hurt. look around college hoops and you'll find that even the Tar Heels have injured players and they lost some games. So what. Nobody is screaming for Roy's resignation over that or accusing him of not preparing his bench. he has no bench.

So put the kleenex away and just watch the rest of the season unfold. And if you're worried about a 12-16 seed, I'd find a new hobby. Get there first, then sit in the bar and watch the selection show. Til then....

Hahaha! Wow!
UNCA has some GREAT FANS! The games are sell out, the fans have been loyal and the STUDENTS ARE GREAT! We have students who are traveling to watch the team now! It is what great division I teams have, a loyal fan base. The fans are what keep the team energized and help motivate the players on the court. Any real college coach or real college player will attest to that!
What's interesting is how other colleges knock our success, something we haven't had in a long time.

Go Dogs! I will be in my seat on Saturday and I will be wearing BLUE to support you!
