I think that the University of Hawaii is really doing all right and I am willing to stick with my season's prediction below as a way to encourage the team and fans and to cheer our team along:

11/01/08 at Utah State Win
11/08/08 at New Mexico State Win
11/22/08 IDAHO Win
11/29/08 WASHINGTON STATE Win
12/06/08 CINCINNATI Win

Cincinnati is a good team and we are not expected to best Cincinnati (and Boise State). But we are coming along fine and it is not the wise thing to do at this point to plan for failure. If you look hard enough, sometimes, you can find something that you've over looked. There are a number of reasons, why the UH can win this game!

Also, I believe in Coach McMackin.

The other concern that I have is the University's progress in the coming years. We need a good quarterback and there is a guy who is available right now, a guy by the name of Patrick Nicely. A guy like Patrick doesn't come along very often and with the right recruiters on board, it is a likelihood that Patrick will be playing for us. He will be turning down schools like Ohio State, Boston College, Stanford, and Tennessee just to come and play for Hawaii!

Hawaii fans would scoff and say that such a guy is too good to be true. Hawaii recruiters wouldn't bother to recruit him and yet I say that with the right people on board our school can recruit Patrick Nicely!

This guy is a dream come true for the University of Hawaii. He really is too good to be true! If the University of Hawaii passes up this opportunity, I would be willing to go on the books and say that Coach McMackin has a few screws loose and is making a very big mistake by not recruiting Patrick. This guy is the future for the University of Hawaii not only for the next four years, but for our university's future!

1. You need him to win games.
2. You need him to truthfully plan and move ahead with three years of being undefeated, being the top team in the WAC (of course beating Boise State for the next four years) and for playing in a BCS game at the end of the year and going for a win!
3. You need this guy to be able to attract other good players and be in the top 25 every year or for having that as our school's goal. Without someone like Patrick it takes years and we might never get to the plateau that our fans seek! Having Patrick cuts years off of our rebuilding program and puts us in the driver's seat! A guy like Patrick DOES NOT come along every year! And not every 10 or 20 years!

The fans should be cheering and enthusiastic. The Governor should be expressing her warm desire to see this guy play at the UH. the school's President and Chancellor should be talking about him madly and the entire school's student body should be wanting to make Patrick Nicely feel at home and want to play at the University of Hawaii!

This guy is our Terrelle Pryor and in my eyes as a Hawaii resident, he is better than Terrelle (because he is on our team and winning tons of games for us)!

I can't see how our recruiting guys and Coach McMackin could have missed this guy, when recruiting football players!

Hey fans, where are you and why don't you begin to make a large outcry for Patrick Nicely to come here to play!

Not the doo doo boy
Hana, HI

This year and with the right recruiters, we will be able to secure Patrick Nicely as our teams 2009 quarterback; along with Greg Alexander. Patrick is, as of last reports, the 18th best in the nation. How often does this opportunity come around for the University of Hawaii (and the university is paying Greg McMackin a salary of over a million dollars per year)?

Competition is such that with what we are paying in coaching salaries, we've better get on the ball and make/allow our coaching staff to earn their pay!

Competition is such that we can not afford to allow Boise State to advance! Last year, we beat Boise State fair and square, under Coach June Jones. This year we lost to Boise State with a $1 million plus salary head coach.

Boise State does not recruit well in comparison to BCS teams. Boise State is well-coached, so that's Boise's advantage over us. Even with McMackin and paying a million dollars plus, Boise State is still a better coached team.

This year in 2008, Boise's recruiting wasn't too bad. In 2009, Boise is expected to tremendously improve in its recruiting and to the point where it will leave Hawaii behind in Boise's smoke. We will never be able to catch Boise and Boise will be guaranteed to dominate the WAC for the next five to eight years! Trying to get ahead will be for naught! I just don't like that kind of situation. And if such were to happen, then we should either get rid of McMackin or pay him less!
What do you fans think?

In order to keep up with Boise, we need to recruit a guy like Patrick (plus two good receivers equal to or surpassing Patrick Nicely's talents) and forget about our soft and verbal commitments to other 2009 quarterbacks.

Hey, we're in this to win or why should we pay McMacking $1.5 million or more? Are you fans stupid or what!

Would fans prefer a four-star Patrick Nicely (most certainly looks like a four-star football player to me. Ever saw his stats?), 18th best in the nation, to play for Hawaii or someone ranked a low 42nd in the nation who will not be able to get us to where we want to be ultimately!

Patrick is the kind of guy that you can depend on to help us win the WAC and to go undefeated in 2009 and for the next four years! Beating Boise State and taking Hawaii to a BCS game at the end of the year with the possibility of winning (from his second to fourth year at the UH)!

You need this guy not only to beat Boise State, but to prevent Boise from growing and from recruiting better players. This is how competition works. You either get Nicely or quit playing football!

In a competitive sport you play to win or you should really fold and close your doors and take up crocheting instead!
Where are the real he man fans at the University of Hawaii!???

He is a steal for Bowling Green, who is lucky to get the guy! Hawaii could have and still could get him, if they had the right ties to the right people!

Pro-Style Quarterback
Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 205 lbs
Forty: 4.67 secs
Bench reps: 12
Vertical: 29 inches
Shuttle: 4.56 secs
GPA: 3.8
Ranking: 18th best in the nation!

Idaho is the weakest team in the WAC.
Utah State is the second weakest.
Utah State is the equivalent of Bowling Green.
What makes Bowling green so special is that it has two junior running backs and a senior defensive tackle. Other than that Bowling Green has no real spectacular players. Hawaii's players by far outclass Bowling Green, yet Hawaii's coaches and AD refuse to spend the money to recruit a player like Patrick Nicely, who would make all of the difference in the world for the Hawaii Warriors!
Nicely is the kind of guy to build one's team around for the next four years!

I salivate over the prospect of getting this guy!

The Warriors are 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the WAC and they lost to Utah State, the weakest team in the WAC, for the very first time in UH history! his comes as a shock and surprise to many people, who are still dumbfounded at the loss!

My prediction for Hawaii was

11/01/08 at Utah State Win
11/08/08 at New Mexico State Win
11/22/08 IDAHO Win
11/29/08 WASHINGTON STATE Win
12/06/08 CINCINNATI Win

USC lost to Oregon State, an easy predicted win for USC, yet they lost. Oregon State lost to Stanford earlier, generally, the weakest team in the PAC-10. So, the UH shouldn't feel so bad as these things do happen and you just have to learn from your mistakes and move on.

We need to change our thinking from playing in the past (ala Coach Dick Tomey) to becoming once again what Coach June Jones made us, a possible Top 25 team in the nation!

I would love for my son to play at Hawaii considering that I was stationed there in my military years. He is the real deal. Nobody works harder than my son. Good luck recruiting him...

Tim, I just spoke to Hawaii's head coach, Coach Greg McMackin, briefly for about 5 minutes today and he told me that he is interested in your son. He suggested that I send him your son's tapes and that he would look at them. I hope that you don't mind my being the agent or in-between for the moment between the University of Hawaii and your son's future. My doing this free and at no to you or to your son.

My uncle is William Kwai Fong Yap. He was the person who raised interest and the funds to start the University of Hawaii. He is considered by many to be the founder of the University of Hawaii.

Let me try and see what my family and extended kin says on the matter and I will approach Coach McMackin with a complete package for your son's four years here in the State of Hawaii.

I repeat: Patrick turned down all those plumb offers from Bowling Green, Toledo and Ohio, and is on his way to leading the AKRON ZIPS to a BCS bowl game in the next five years. Dad -- you will love watching your boy at brand spankin' new Summa Field at Infocision Stadium in downtown Akron, Ohio, a city that has it all over Honolulu when it comes to travel destinations.
