I hope Dougie doesn't flush his chance at the University. He's at a crossroads. It's not about Basketball. If Dougie does what Calhoun asks of him it will benefit him and his family always. He's in my prayers.

I hope that these reports are not true and if they are They should get suspended,I also feel that they should also have some kind of drug treatment to help these young men.And this is for coach Calhoun please keep sticking by your players god bless and take care.

Almost every 19-20 yr old thinks that they 'know all' ~ best to follow the rules, if they exist, and in this case the rules have possibly been broken ~ in this instance and every others, bravo, Coach for following the rules.

COMMON SENSE says that we can not trust Mr. Wiggins as far as we can throw him. If you have any doubt, ask ANY other Big East coach. Coach Calhoun has his hands full with this young "man".

The sad part is Calhoun cares and the player obviously does NOT.

Quit spending my tax dollars on this type of person please. There are plenty of bright, deserving kids who would jump at the chance for a free ride @ UCONN (or perhaps we could send several to a community college instead).....

Best of all is that the team does not need him.

Didn't something similar happen with some of the football players a year or so ago? I'm wondering if uconn is joining the majority of colleges who are pursuing on-field success at the expense of their off-field reputation. When did UConn become UThug?

When it was just under aged drinking, it was stupid (and not totally unexpected on a college campus). Now that we have more information, I believe these kids are morons. They have been given the opportunity of a lifetime (my kids aren't lucky enough to get a free ride to a major university), and they are just throwing it away. It makes me sick.

As BIGFAN so aptly stated - these young men need to get their heads out of their butts.

What a surprising story! Two gifted UCONN athletes screwing up. Well done fellas! At least this time they didn't steal any laptops. Doug Wiggins seems to be quite an intelligent young man. Two failed drug tests already? People like him have a tremendous future in the fast food business. He has no business being on a college campus.

"Just a small mistake." "Turning their lives around." "At a crossroads."

What nonsense. These T words (can't say thug, it's racist I learned yesterday...) are done.

http://www.theday.com/re.aspx...

"Results of that drug test will likely be released sometime this week. But the Courant reported that Wiggins, a sophomore, already has failed two previous tests in his career, including one last fall that led to a 30-day indefinite suspension from all team-related activities.

According to the student handbook, a student athlete failing a third drug test during his or her career “will be barred from practice and competition for the remainder of the academic year in which the third positive test result was obtained.”"

They're pampered little brats. Dougie is book smart and should have known better. He should get a year off to think about it. People say thay get special treatment and they do, but if you don't think rich alumni kids gets extra breaks for the same thing, then you've been smoking with Jerome and Dougie. At least we know Mr. Wiggins won't be transferring to St. Johns. Is it me or is Calhoun's "holier than thou" routine getting old? AS the highest paid state employee with a mutli million program, where does it say he's above questioning?

The sad part of the whole mess is the players who are out busting their butts are the ones being punished by playing short handed. BUT, they are doing GREAT!!!

Wiggins is toast and should be. Maybe Dyson can hang in there and straighten out.
The truth is that the kids who follow the rules can't stand playing with those who don't.
Proof is the way they have played since the arrest.
Do the discipline necessary to maybe straighten them out.
All athletes know that if you cheat the rules, you will also cheat your team when the going gets tough.

What world do you live in? You must be an upper middle class person to make such comments. What's wrong is wrong, however we should be trying to help these kids instead of condemning them. WAKE UP. Another thing, If the police are not going to charge them for this then they should just not mention it. Another way to totally ruin someone's character.

This entire episode leaves me empty.
I'm still trying to find the good.
Wiggins and Dyson aren't anymore criminal than half the student body
at Storrs.I still don't understand why the police approached them in the first place, searched their car. What was the initial infraction?I don't believe in police states. Calhoun is smart, understands that most of this is bs., that kids in college party and its the role of the adults around them to see that they don't end up with criminal records for very minor infractions.
I don't understand why athletes have less civil rights than anyone else on the campus. These kids' civil rights were abused terribly. How would you like to be stopped a cop apparently for now reason, searched and told that by the cop that he found marijuana next to your car and then he releases the story to the papers?
If they had pot, then arrest them for pot. Don't accuse of using part and then use the University bylaws to circumvent the bill of rights and force them to testify against themselves with this drug test. I wonder if this sort of student harrassment goes on all the time at Storrs? The story here is not Wiggins and Dyson. It is much bigger than those two.

Does anyone understand the meaning of sacrifice anymore? These are star college basketball players. They are required to sacrifice the foolish antics of your typical college student.

If they want to be typical college students, then they should quit the team.
