Full story: Hartford Courant

Doug Wiggins said Saturday he felt racially discriminated against during a Jan. 24 incident with UConn police and said officers used his status as a UConn basketball player as a form of intimidation.

"It's unfair," said Wiggins, who played 11 minutes against Pittsburgh in his return to the UConn lineup after missing two games. "We were treated unfairly. But they have that type of power, so there was nothing we could do about it. What did they say?'You guys think you can just go around doing whatever you want and get away with it.'"

So having other students come in to do your school work so you can maintain an adequate grade point average to play ball IS fair? Stop crying you whiny baby.

Actually they are playing pretty well now! The pathetic envy you feel towards the basketball team is just childish, just because they get scholarships and sometimes get a chance for million dollar contracts isn't a good excuse for racist rants. Racism and bigotry is alive and well in CT. If you don't see it your blind and dumb and if you don't admit it you're just an ignorant liar!
You, sir, need to do a little research on the facts before lipping off and berating others as racist. This isn't about race at all, it's about common sense, decency and a little dose of humility and respect for the the university and the good taxpayes of Connecticut for giving these kids a free education and a chance to hit the big time lottery known as the NBA.

And Logical, you forgot to mention Pete's persuasive argument that anyone who disagrees with his liberal/permissive thinking in this case is either "ignorant", "dumb" or "racist".

Please point out to me exactly where my "racist rant" is. In spite of your vitriol, I still don't understand how expecting a young man to take responsibility for his behavior and to appreciate the opporunities he has been given is "racist".

If you can curb your name-calling and insults for a while, please elucidate.

I find it interesting that people expecting young men like Wiggins to have good character are called racist. Couldn't we argue that it's racist to believe, as Pete seems to, that Wiggins cannot control his behavior because of a "racist" police force? I give him (Wiggins) more credit than that - but adults must draw the line and reinforce it.

you have to wonder about wiggins decision making ability on the court if he makes the decision to engage in all these activities in a parking lot. Thats just asking the po po to investigate, no matter what race you are.
