So, is it possible that the police who originally arrested him were incompetent in the handling of the case? A man's reputation is screwed by overzealous prosecution and sensationalistic headlines. Great job Hampton Keystone Cops and Daily Press. You should all be so proud of yourselves.

From what I have been told, he was given the ultimatum "Resign or be fired". I would hope that the school system offers an apoligy for their rush to judgement and the ridiculous behavior of the pricipals and police at the school. I would hope that their actions are investigated for misconduct.

The Daily Press should never have said that the dog without a good nose may have hit on some old marijuana smoke. He probably hit on the hamburger bun that the seeds fell from. He may have hit on something that someone touched on the outside of the car. After all this is a public parking lot with lots of people, students, teachers, administrators, or just people passing through. What a crock the DP is and it looks like our police who I really do appreciate just got this one wrong. As for the beer in a locked trunk of a car. What can I say. I have seen beer in cars before. All the beer trucks on the street aren't taking them to one persons house. What if a mother goes to pick up her children at a school after coming home from the store and has a six pack or a bottle of cooking wine in her car. Will she lose her job and future and reputation. Talk about over kill. I would love to see the DP do a story on Cary and the countless hours he has spent working with kids. What a shame. Give him his job and life back.

I have to question the randomness of this search. Do all school parking lots get searched? Middle? Elementary? What about the nice school office building downtown? Do the dogs stroll those halls of that nice new building with hundreds of school employees on a random basis? Or was this actually not random at all?

Writing here will do nothing to get his job back. Try writing

This is the supt. of the division.
Maybe the good people of our area will help him get his job and reputation back.

I wonder where the Hampton Coalition for Justice or all the others are when this happens to a non-black person. Come on Rudy, do your duty, and help this white brother get his job back. Don't just spend your time on issues concerning one race. Justice should be for all races. Make a few calls. This hard working, honest person, has had his life ruined.

Hampton Schools should offer him his job back. School divisions use that "resign or you're fired" angle WAY to much; it helps them spin it if they get it wrong, as in this case - "He 'chose' to resign. We did not take his job away" she said.

What a crock! The Daily Press owes this guy a public, printed apology, and Hampton owes him his job back. Although, after Hampton Schools went all "Brutus" on him, I don't know if I - were I in his shoes - would WANT to work for that bunch of turncoats.

This is a good point. If he was black would this guy be getting more support as he was "taken down" by the police? Like was brought up before I don't see any community groups standing up for him.

What that shows is that these "coalitions" are not out for justice, but justice according to race. The man has been been shown to be innocent. He was unjustly tried by the daily press and by the kecoughtan and the school system. Where is the support of the community activists? If he were african american would the rudy crowd, the naacp people, etc. be behind him? The big R word works both ways. It is RACIST to not support him when you woul have supported others given the same scenario. Either stand up now or don't at all.

Where are all of the creeps that were so quick to judge this man. Shame on the Daily Press and shame on all of you who bashed him. Awful quiet when someone is proven innocent, aren't you?

Let's not forget the education leaders that sit downtown. They are the ones that come up with these rules. He should sue the school system and get every dime he can possibly get out of the system. This situation could have been handle alot better.
