I'm not exactly sure of what Garys teaching.Maybe he should visit John Thompson in Georgetown to see how to coach defenseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Offense wins a ball game or two.Defense will win Championship.

I think James Gist is the best player on the team. The stats from last night he only took 6 shots, making four of them. I think our guards who shot 3-12 and 5-16 should starting feeding the ball to Gist. I think if he got 15 shots per game he would make more than the seven our starting guards made last night.

This team is mediocre. Root for the women's team. They're more interesting.

Note to Gary - When picking next year's gimme games to help offset your coming conference losses, go for some softer targets. It's too easy to over-estimate the quality of your own recruits. 2002 is soooooo far in the past. Hope the shoe money makes this season easier to stomach.

Appears losing 20 games may be a bigger problem than winning 20.

This is the least talented MD team since the early 90's when they were on probation. I think things will get very ugly in College Park this season. The NIT may even be out of reach.

same ole same ole.. good defense, can't make a shot to save their lives... please someone tell vasquez to quit shooting the ball so much. Vasquez plays great D and is real effect driving and dishing on Off. but can't shoot anything over 10 ft to save his ass. What is it about MD when every player they get can't make a consistent jump shot??? Don't even bother feeding the ball to Osby. He has hands of stone. He is more effective getting his points off second chance baskets. MD hasn't had a consistant Off. since Juan Dixon & Baxter left. It's a shame MD never gets a Blue chip recruit, when they have teams like this where players need a couple years, the players that won't be staying long could really help the program until the young guys develop.

Thank the Lord I went to the NCAA tournament in Atlanta to us win the 2002 National Championship I can now rest in peace. Sold my season tickets this year and will enjoy something else. The will need to get a new Gary in there to start all over then by the time that is done my ashes will be spread over Cole not Comcast...I think Jimmy Patsos and Dave Dickerson teams would give Gary a run this year ..its over for a decade so my money is going to College of Engineering in lieu of Terrapin Club

John,
As far as investments go, your money is well spent in the College of Engineering. My kids and I thank you. If only you could swing Nike over to your way of thinking, we would be sitting pretty.

That would be very impressive if the played real talent just 80% of the time in non-conference play. Maryand plays a lot of no bodies and then tries to make a play of it in conference play to make the NCAA's. It worked last year after a couple of good wins, but just like the previous years it won't work this year as the talent has fallen off. Maryland will finish in the basement of the ACC this year.

Ohio might not own 150 or higher wins but both losses came on last second shots. They''ll be one of the better teams in the MAC this year, if O'Shea gets out of the way.

When it comes to Maryland basketball:
1) No one graduates
2) No one wins
No wonder the DC/Baltimore kids are encouraged to go elsewhere by their coaches. We are sailing towards our third NIT in 4 years. Gary, I will always remember you as a hero, but quite frankly, I've seen enough.

I cringe every time I see Vasquez receive the ball. Lord only knows what he is going to do with it.
Thank goodness for the Lady Terps.

What did everyone expect from this Team? Their best player is Gist and in close or big games he usually does not show up. Last year I cant remember him having a big game against a quality opponent. I like this years team. They hustle and play good defense. Tucker has shown flashes of being a really good player. Next year they are getting some shooters and we will be good in the next couple years. It is going to be a year of inconsistent play while the freshmen gain experience. They will upset somebody this year when vasquez and hayes start making shots. Give them a pass this year and look forward to 2009-2010.

The Mens BBall program is done..this year and maybe till we get a new approach (coaching change). Look at TV this week at the other teams (any other teams) then compare in your head what you have seen in watching the Terps in their first 11 games. Man..if they win 3 games in the ACC God Bless them.

To HRC hope your kids are in the Civil Engineering program cause that is the one I am donating to.

I never would have thought 5 years after winning a national championship we would have to worry about missing the NIT let alone the NCAAs. This team could lose 20 games no joke. And the sad thing is this team has talent, but apparently they have no motivation (aka the sluggish 1st halfs). Whats the deal Gary?

This team plays hard. It really comes down to a serious lack of talent. MD is simply lacking talented players.
