Dear Mr. Brennan, Thanks for mentioning the movie "Hoosiers" being filmed, in part, at Hinkle Fieldhouse in your NIT Butler over the "Zags" story.
The In. State Championship final game between Milan and Muncie Central high sc hools in March of 1954 was played at Hinkle. The player who hit that final shot for Milan, Bobby Plump, lives here in Indy as does teammate Ray Craft. Milan is the team after which "Hoosiers was loosely fashioned. Regards, HB

P.S to above story. Both Plump and Craft went on to play at Butler and Plump after college played for the Phillips 66 Oilers for several years.

It was great to see that Howdy Bell is still thriving and following hoops in Indianapolis. For years kids like me growing up in the 60's listened to Mr. Bell along with several other outstanding broadcasters describe the golden age of the Indy 500 and numerous high school basketball tournaments on the radio. Distinguished broadcasters such as Mike Ahern,Jerry Baker, Chuck Marlowe, John Toten, Jim Phillipe, Doug Zink, Sid Collins, Jack Sorbie all brought a magic to those broadcasts that is sorely missed today. I have had the opportunity to meet Mr.Plump and Mr.Craft and was impressed with their humility at the telling of their great Indiana basketball experience. Go Dogs!
