Mike White sparks IU off the bench

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

Kelvin Sampson had been saying for the past couple of weeks that senior forward Mike White was being redshirted because there were simply too many frontcourt players in the mix for playing time.

I will rarely agree with any of Kelvin Phone Call Sampson's decisions this season as he should have been fired already, but, this is one occasison where he got it right. White plays with heart, determination and desire. Not overly talented, but a definite positive for our team. He attacked the glass and defended pretty well. I of the few players that doesn't want to play one on one NBA style ball. He is about the team. Great job Mike!

Mike White was really big last night. He came in playing good defense, and really rebounded the ball well. Way to go Mike! Keep up the hard work!

I agree with Kathy. And I thank Kathy for her obvious insight in the game of basketball. I believe in our players and I don't think for a minute that Gordon is a selfish player. I have read some of his interviews and he is wanting to help the team. I will always love my Hoosiers and my school.

Coach Sampson just realized his team is young and experienced after their loss? Any good coach would have realized this in the first couple of weeks of practice. To redshirt a Senior is stupid. He finally realized that and made the right call. It makes you wonder about the coach's judgment, though.

I hope Gordon stays in school for one more year to fully prepare himself for the pros. He is a scorer. I hope his defense picks up and he relys on his total game. He could be an All-American this year.
