3 ranked teams before Christmas is more than most teams play. It was not a given that they'd be undefeated at this point.

Why is it always the uninformed people who feel the need to comment? They've played 3 ranked teams before conference plays has even started! Let's take a look at the other teams in the top 5: UConn has played 1 more ranked team than UNC, 3 more than Pitt, 2 more than Oklahoma, and 1 more than Duke.
Do you feel like an idiot yet?? I can keep going. Here's a thought: how about next time you share an opinion, at least have a clue what you're talking about. Over a 1/4 of their schedule so far has been against ranked teams, in a season where they have 9 more games against ranked teams in their own conference and possibly a 10th if Michigan (out of conference) cracks the polls. The way I look at it UCONN is 4 and 0. Let's face it--7 games were gimmees! Also, has Thabeet made anything but a layup or a dunk this year. Calhoun needs to explain how he is the most improved player he has coached in 30 years. Let's face it --his record at UCONN is primarily the result of having some of the best players in the country. Despite that he has coached 2 of the biggest upsets in recent NCAA years--George Mason and San Diego.

You mean guys like Jake Voskuhl and Hilton Armstrong and Emeka Okafor? Players that were unheralded coming out of high school and are now in the NBA? Face it, Calhoun is an all-time great coach and a true Hall-of-Famer. What do have against successful people?

Bear, you are clueless. Thabeet's job is to make layups and dunks. If he's shooting jumpshots, there's a problem. His game has miles to go without a doubt, but it has come miles already. Those who doubt that didn't watch him play as a freshman.

To your other (and worse) point about Calhoun's success. Did these great players decide to come to UConn because of it's scenic locale or the cuisine at Willington Pizza? Don't think so. They came because Calhoun got them to come, every single one of them left a better player than they were when they arrived, and most achieved a great deal of success in the NCAA tournament.

George Mason also beat Michigan St. and North Carolina in that tournamet, but I guess Roy Williams and Tom Izzo can't coach either. San Diego was a terrible loss, but let's not forget it was Calhoun's FIRST loss in the first round in 14 NCAA appearances at UConn.

Only Gonzaga is still ranked. Miami and Wisonsin are unranked. A pretty cupcake filled pre conference schedule for a team that was #2 in the nation preseason.

Memo to Calhoun: you're not at Northeastern anymore. You can actually play good teams.

Wisconsin and Miami are unranked, middle of the road teams.

Great insight. You seem very educated. It's hard not to be intense when people make false statements. UConn has one of the hardest schedules in the country this year (including pre-conference play)..period. But, people will still come on here and claim otherwise.
