Hopefully UConn will learn from this game. It's not going to get any easier in the Big East. UConn turned the ball over way too much. If it wasn't a blatant turnover it was a forced bad shot. Thabeet needs to touch the ball more. He needs to flash to the high post to get a catch and dump it down to Sticks or Adrien on the block.(A little high/low action)
I am not going to get too excited right now. But it was a very poor showing last night. And there was some glaring fundamental faults.
I hate to say it, but I don't think they will learn anymore from this game than they did last year, or the year before. They just don't have the heart. Georgetown shot 49% in the first half....where was the Uconn stifling defense? They couldn't shoot straight either. Thabeet is terrible! I really didn't expect a win, they barely pulled it out playing "B" teams. They should take a cue from the Uconn women who come to play EVERY game. We may as well face it, there will be no tournament trophies again this year. And this from a fan who defended the Uconn men rabidly til now. Sigh.

A team of young Georgetown players came to Hartford and surgically sliced and diced UConn. Ouch! The young Hoyas were poised and focused. Not so UConn. Wha' happened? Is UConn overrated? Then again, Jim Calhoun could have shown more class in defeat; he barely looked at John Thompson during the after-game handshake. Not too much class from the shocked fans either (did they really chant axxhxxxx to the refs?). Has it gotten that bad? Hoya Saxa!
Agreed. Lack of class on both parts. JC was his arrogant self and the fans were obnoxious with their AH chant.
Is UConn overrated? Absolutely. Nowhere near a national #2 team.

"They should take a cue from the Uconn women who come to play EVERY game."

As much as I dislike/don't care about women's BBall, they absolutely do come out to play - big time. Too mnay over-grown egos and not enough hustle. I have no idea what Calhoun is saying to these guys in the locker room before tip-off, but whatever it is, it ain't workin'. If he had any cajones, he'd bench Thabeet for the next game so he can contemplate life in the NBA. What a waste of scholarship $$.

yo lo tengo,

I couldn't care less what Craig Austrie did in the past or last year. This season he has been tentative with his shot and really just been a zero on the floor. He's not great defensively, so why is he playing. I feel he's almost regressed to his freshman year when his major strength was not turning over the ball mainly because he just dribbles on the perimeter. He needs to either do something or have his minutes cut.

recap
thabeet can't p;ay at this level never mind the nba where they have men not high school seniors

dyson's slicing should be in a kitchen

adrien god bless him has a future but it should be in football where his heart abd size will make him big money

calhoun is a cclunker, past his time, forget this last game he should have picked up his time when he didn't get to the final four with 5 first round nba draft picks. blaney is a nice man,but seton hall and the cross knew his limitatons

bring on bobby knight and let these free ride athletes? learn what it is to work for there keep

they are as big an embarrasment as their coach they suck

86 comments? Wow, that's impressive.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on this debacle being more of a positive influence on this team than a harbinger of more embarrassing outings to come. I also think they need to find out "who" they are as a team in the next four games.

Calhoun says Michigan is as good as any Big East Team. They beat Savannah State by 2 in OT at home. The Hoyas beat Savannah State 100-38. Its time to start scheduling more Nutmeg State teams likethe Bantams, the Cardinals, Eastern Connecticut, Western Connecticut and Central.
Michigan has wins over Duke and UCLA. Michigan is a legit team.

Bobby Knight. Now I LIKE that idea. Knight wouldn't stand for the BS that these kids demonstrated last night. He's have those 13EEEs of his right up someone's a^^- guess who?

Go Jim, just go.

Correctomundo. I'm going to go to that game - it will be fun to watch a real team square off against these pretenders.

i read like the first 8 comments and stopped because i remembered that once again uconn fans are the most fair-weather uneducated group in the country. seriously all of you suffer from the worst selective memory i have ever seen. do you guys even watch basketball. youre probably the same people who were on here in 2004 ripping into uconn after they got smashed by georgia tech in november. or when they put up 56 points against providence at home early in the big east schedule. "taliek brown cant make a shot, get rid of him". blah blah crap like that. what happened in 2004 i forget. ill remind you. we lost 6 games playing a big east that wasnt nearly as good as it is this year. oh right then we won the national championship. right now we have 1 loss. shut up

#4 oklahoma got wrecked last night by unranked arkansas. i guess they are overrated, and have no shot. purdue got housed at home by unranked illinois. theyre done too. louisivlle started out #3 and has 2 bad losses. i guess they should just stop playing now bevause theyre done. xavier was #6 and lost by like 300 points to duke. kick them out of the ncaa. nobody has a chance to win the championship this year. everyone is overrated and plays with no heart. i mean cmon shouldnt everyone win every game?

i would just like to reiterate, our fans are pathetic. if you expect the players to always be perfect, then you should always be supportive

Michigan just lost to Wisconsin by 12. The team these pretenders ran off the court.

LOL god these people on the board are hilarious, Uconn loses one game and all of a sudden everyone has a heart attack and starts rushing to criticize the team. Everyone on this board has unfair expectations on this team if they think they are suppose to be unbeatable. I'd rather take a loss now then one down the road. Sure Uconn looked like crap but this is ONE GAME, they still beat Gonzaga at Gonzaga after trailing in the second half. Wait till the rest of the season pans out before u judge. Honestly i wonder if professional sports teams get this much criticism about their team after one game
What's even funnier is that if UConn had beaten Georgetown, there would only be about 10-20 comments about the game. And half of those would be people criticizing UConn for not shooting 100% or claiming that the Hoyas were overrated.

Some people are only happy when they have something to complain about.

Jim. Stop hating. Does it make you feel better to know you predicted UConn not being as good as advertised?

I mean "Jim the rat"? He is in the hall of fame. He brought UConn to where they are today. He uses his legendary status to work the referees in his team's favor.

Next time, do your homework bro. They'll bounce make and make at least the Elite 8, if not the final for.

Thanks James for your really intelligent post.

Hey Hakeem, I hope you are watching Georgetown and ND. Harangody just dropped 19 on them...in the first half. This included two shots I would describe as "half-hooks"... between a skyhook and a jump hook. Dave Cowens shot it all the time. He didn't have that shot last year. Take a note...work on your game...get at least one reliable post move.
