I believe Hawaii has lots of great players this year, but what we lack is good coaching that culminates good talent into a good team. I never wanted MacMackin to take over for Jones. He's a nice guy but not a very good head coach. How many more seasons do we plan on investing in him before the decision makers realize Mac is taking us in the wrong direction.

This season is turning out very bad. With Idaho (5-1), Boise (5-0) and Nevada's potent running attack coming up, the Warrior's will be 2-6. There are no "gimme's" against SJSU, USU, or NMSU either. This really irks me. Our Defense just can not stop anybody. It's basic fundamentals like TACKLE and block. I see JJ got another win for SMU yesterday or at least his players did.

This is my third season living on the mainland and I drive to almost every road game. It a blast attending road games and meeting other locals living on the mainland. I drive 11 hours to watch them in Moscow, ID, 5 hours to watch them in Reno. Every road game I meet such awesome people from Hawaii. But watching our boys lose badly because of mental mistakes and poor coaching is tough. I wonder if the decision makers want to ever become a national power, like Boise. It doesn't seem so, especially if they keep Mack another season.

This bird brain says this: 1) We dont have a running game. Do as June Jones did and convert a lineman to a BIG Back to punch the heads of these linebackers and Def Ends, and to rumble down the field racking up big yards. So coaches, look at your roster and find that big tough lineman and convert him to this position. ASAP 2) You need a new offensive coordinator. Rollo is simply an ex-system quarterback with experience in the run and shoot. He was not a gifted quarterback as some of the others. He does not have the experience to devise an offensive strategy that employs a passing and running attack. I dont know if we have anyone on the staff who has this talent. RLee didnt. Rollovich doesnt have it. Neither does Mack. So start looking now for a coach who can do this. 3) We have good receivers and slots, but our qbs are not of the quality of Timmy Chang or Colt Brennan. 4) Again, as JJ did, get the skill players elsewhere, and give the early scholarships to the talented local linemen and keep them at home. Frankly, I dont know why Mack gave out the early scholarships to the local qbs and slots. Experience indicate that the better players for these positions are from the mainland. Give the scholarships to the talented linemen. I am sorry to say but, use it to develop new schemes and new players: like that big running back and please, please, employ tight ends. THEY are weapons!
new coaches please

It is so sickening to watch this team play football. It has been two weeks in a row where they have played terrible. They are an embarrassment to the state of Hawaii. If they don't get it together soon i don't know if they will even win another game this season.

I honestly don't think we will win another game this season and that's sad. Poor play on the field equals poor coaching. For a million plus you expect to at least compete. I'm pretty sure Boise St.'s head coach don't make as much as Mac and Boise St. kicks ##s every year consistently. I wish people would stop making excuses for U.H. coaches on other blogs. Time to start planning ahead for the future and look into other coaching prospects and clean house from the top. And please don't hire from within cause we'll still run into the same problems. Just my opinion.

Here's what I saw - a really good Fresno team beating an average UH team. Matthews is for real and we'll be seeing him on Sunday in the near future. Moniz looked pretty decent for his first start - look forward to seeing how much he can improve the remainder of the year. Like it or not, UH is the only game in town and I support it - good times and bad. PS - Stadium Authority or whomever handles the parking - get the tailgaters out of the empty parking stalls...must be hundreds of stalls not used 'cause someone is lighting up a hibachi or playing poker in the stall!
