How much you want to bet this guy kills a cop but gets off scott free. His friends and family will come to his defense because he was such a great guy and it was only a mistake. After all, he was just celebrating the Gator's big win!

Now that this jerk has sobered up, I'm hoping that his arrogant and cocky attitude he so proudly flaunted immediately following this tragedy have taken a backseat to the realization he took a husband and father away from his family. Perhaps that's wishful thinking on my part.

My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Corey Dahlem's family.

If anyone defends this piece of trash, I'll throw up. Hopefully he was just some bandwagon fan looking for an excuse to party, and not a real Gator. He should put himself out of our misery.

You know there will be a defense liar, I mean lawyer that will, plus he has treehugging liberals that will feel sorry for him and say it was societies fault and the police should have been looking out for drunks before they hurt someone..you know how it is...ERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I HOPE THEY GET HIM FOR VEHICULAR HOMICIDE!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently all of you people and your children are so perfect that you havent made a mistake. Austin is a good kid that would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He comes from a good family. He made one shupid mistake that he has to live with the rest of his life. This could have been any one of your children.

My prayers are with the Dahlem and Wright families.

It's a risk that each and every LEO must face in the line of duty, and Lt. Dahlem unfortunately had to give his life for a senseless act. I will not and cannot cast a stone towards the person who killed Dahlem, as I am not without sin myself. I pray for the driver that he realizes that he has taken the life of someone who protected him from harm, and I pray for the family of Lt. Dahlem, as they will never know peace until they are reunited in Heaven with their fallen loved one.

Office Down Memorial Page is another wonderful way to speak of Lt. Dahlem, as well as all other officers killed in the line of duty. I highly encourage you to read some of the postings, but be forewarned - you will cry.

As a Gator that partied on the streets that night, I can proudly say I realized my limitations and took a bus home. Gainesville has plenty of alternatives to driving drunk, and regardless of how he was a "good kid" he knew he was drunk, and he knew drunk driving is dangerous. There's a difference between being a little over the limit and three times. I have no sympathy for the kid, but the fullest for Lt. Dahlem's poor family.

Maybe we should look at the example of the Amish Community that recently suffered from a horrific tragedy. Many of the Amish members were at the funeral of the man who had killed their young children. Now that is Forgiveness.

Yeah Dave he is a great kid. 3 times the legal limit? We do make mistakes but this was not of that nature. This guy knew he had to drive home (not G'ville) He was going to hit / kill someone to bad it had to be Cory my fraternity brother and friend. To bad it had to be anyone for that matter. Good kid....I do not think so.

I dont know the details but I think it is possible that the police officer might have stepped out into the road to stop the person on foot. Is this true, or was he moved down by that savage drunkard?
