This is the most inapprpriate article I have ever read in reference to a college sporting event. Does the author get some sort of pleasure from making Gator Fans look like arrogant jerks! Let the students play the game, and its all the better if your team wins, but trying to make a mockery of an enire instution(over a sport) or belitlling amature atheletes is a pathetic hobby, even if you get paid for it.

See, what fans hate isn't the winning
so much as the gloating. It's shocking
to me that a newspaper would publish
a column this snide.

The Gators are a consensus for definitive favorites to win the championship. But the columnist of this article is getting too extreme on implying Gator championships in "all sports." The Gators don't even have a Division I wrestling team. The wrestling dynasties belong to Oklahoma State and Iowa. CU Boulder usually dominates cross country and skiing. There is no doubt that Florida dominates football and basketball though. But Minnesota won the Division I wrestling championship this year. http://www.ncaasports.com/wrestling/mens/reca...
Don't get me wrong. Basketball is one of my favorite sports, and I think most people favor the Gators to win the basketball championship. It's just not realistic to claim that Florida wins championships in EVERY SPORT that exists in college.

Its shocking to me that someone is surprised a newspaper in the STATE OF FLORIDA would write a pro-Gator story, just like I am sure your Columbus newpapers are writing pro-Buckeye stories. Let it be that.

By all means, keep reading the stories that are written by/for Gators just like I love reading newspapers articles and Buckeye blog sites. Its fun to see what the other side is thinking, it makes the rivalries that much more fun.

Check back tomorrow morning- there will be a story about how the Gators win a National Championship....again.

Whoever would be the Champs, needs to make sure that their tee-shirts are spelled correctly.

Case in point NIT champion Virginia's t-shirt was spelled "Virgina".

LOL. It must have been a bid process. Lowest cost got the job and can't spell.

Are you a junior-high student writing an essay? What a infintile analysis.(That means immature.)

The Ohio State University is the official name of the school, it's been on the letterhead since 1870. I can see you have an aversion to facts.

Awesome. Bravo. Heck yeah. Amen.

I'm a Michigan girl myself, but hearing anyone echo what I've been saying for the last few months (heck, the last 10+ years)-- regardless of which team it's coming from -- is priceless. Thanks! Take em down, Gators.

Are you nuts? You seem to attack Ohio State for what Sports Illustrated wrote about it. Ohio Stae, to my knowledge does not call itself "The Program". And, did you even read the article? It is not just about championships, which, by the way, Ohio State has far more of than Florida, but it is about financing the largest most successful sports program in the country. Because they are so successful they can provide many more opportunities to women and athletes in obscure sports who would not otherwise get the chance to participate intercollegiately. While many schools are dropping mens' and womens' sports because of Title IX and lack of funding, Ohio State provides multiple opportunities to participate.
You might do a little research about the use of the word "THE" by Ohio State. It was part of a settlement of a legal dispute between Ohio University and Ohio State over marketing rights and has nothing to do with arrogance.
What evidence do you have that Ohio State prefers individual awards to team championships? What a boneheaded statement. If the awards come, so much the better. Would Florida give them back? Do they still display Spurrier's Heisman?
As for Ohio State's basketball fortunes next year again a little more research on your part might have led you to a different conclusion. The 2007 class is a top 5 class. Remember the names Dallas Lauderdale, Jon Diebler, Kosta Koufos. Oh yeah the 2008 class is complete and is also a consensus top 5 class. How do you think the Gators will do next year?
What a hack.

I think the only purpose of your article was to upset TOSU fans. You did. A lot goes into a program other than a few great years...which Fl obviously is having. Your article reads like some freshman fan rather than a thoughtful sports writer...have fun... itd won't last much longer..
