Pep band creates spirit at Indian hoops games
#1 Feb 28, 2006
It is very interesting that the pep band can play for only boys events. Does the school have no girls team? One of the reasons pep bands have gone by the wayside for basketball at a high school level is because with the advent of title nine, we are expected to play equally for boys and girls basketball. As a female, that seems fair, except it gets tiring to play for every home game. Also, budget cuts have cut into the music we can purchase to "keep up" with stuff the people want to hear. I know, I have run pep bands for 31 years at a high school level in Wisconsin.(We have a regional game tonight!) Of course, up here in Wisconsin, most schools who use the Indian as a mascot are also in violation of state law...

You might want to know that the pep band also played at the girls game on Sunday when the Lady Noles defeated Boston College.
