good coverage of 4 A but no coverage of 3 A? Daily times doesn't deserve the title of a 2nd rate press outfit....

Maybe not as a team but it is somewhat of an individual sport and I would take even money that NIck Pacheco and Jhett Gomez win a state title. Either way another sign that PV is getting closer to running this district with a 2 underclassmen leading the district title charge.

Congrats to all 4-corners wrestlers and good luck to those that qualified for state. However, I'am disappointed with the Shiprock program. Shiprock has talented wrestlers every year, but the coaches just dont see it or they need to move on and have someone with new blood run the shiprock wrestling program.

I will take that bet. Pacheco and Gomez are both going to have a hard time making the finals. Pacheco has Otero from Volcano Vista and also Montano from Valencia. Gomez has Pringle from Aztec, who he just lost to this past weekend, and the Garcia kid from Valencia. I would take that bet in a heart beat. As far as PV running the district, imagine how tough Aztec would be if those kids who are now at PV would have stayed in Aztec.

In response to "Wrestling Fan", not taking anything away from Otero but come on if your better than Max Ortega you make weight for every tournament. And as far as Pringle goes, he would probably be an even better wrestler if his father was not on the sidelines being a distraction through every match going on. The Aztec team had to have been humiliated by his behavior. Both weights are going to be tough, but Pacheco and Gomez will be there. Congrats to all the wrestlers at Saturdays tournament, and best of luck to the state qualifiers.

I agree with you completely. Otero is no Max Ortega by any means. Max is Max and there will only be one Max Ortega. I do not know where people see the comparison, but the kid is tough!! I agree with you about Pringle's father. Derek is a great kid!!! It is too bad Coach Maxwell from Aztec does not really get an opportunity to coach the kid during his matches.

don't count out Cummins & Edwards. District champs take more than a two person team. Best PV team in many years. Coach Stout deserves Coach of the Year. Go Panthers! Earnin the right to Bite!

Why would anyone think that Aztec would be better if those kids had stayed in Aztec? Caracter counts for everything. Look up the word Loyalty and while your at it sportmanship as well!!!! And some people out there have the nerve to talk about Pringle? They should not cast a stone from a glass house!!!

Aztec would have been better all around as a team if those kids would have stayed there. They would have been able to move kids around at certain weights and been able to compete for a state title, but instead they went to PV for whatever reason. Why would I look up the word loyalty? Don't you think it should be those kids who are now at PV? Are you questioning the sportsmanship of those kids at PV? Anyways. I was correct about Pacheco and Gomez not winning a state title.

I attend college in the SEC conference. Over here, the SEC gloats on their #1 standing as a football conference that is the most competitive. But I still believe wrestling is harder than football. I revere the wrestlers trying hard to place high in their weight class. It is no easy task. Trust me, I know. I doubt Tim Tebow could get past the 1st round in the NCAA Division I heavyweight championship against guys like Steve Mocco, Cole Konrad, Cain Velasquez, or someone like Brock Lesnar. Even those guys don't get to stay undefeated forever. Wrestling is tough. It's also a sport that has persisted since the days of the Ancient Egyptians to our modern times. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy football and am a fan of SEC football. I go to graduate school in the SEC. But wrestling is still a harder sport than football. Even Herschel Walker, the ex SEC football star, admitted it while training in wrestling for MMA.

By the way, I went to high school in Santa Fe, NM. I saw Vision Quest when it came out at De Vargas Mall long ago as a young teen. I was wrestling at the time and trained with the state heavyweight champion (6'5" and 294 lbs). I know Aztec and the Four Corners area have great wrestlers. Albuquerque also has great high school athletes. I've seen some of them train on the La Luz Trail - a 15 mile round trip up Sandia Peak and back. I now work in Florida as an engineer and go to graduate school in the SEC. I miss Twister's and Lotta Burger or that New Mexican Restaurant at De Vargas Mall. Farmington had great wrestlers from the Navajo Reservation and Jemez.

That is exactly who is i was refering to when i suggested that the word loyalty be looked up (PV) those kids were used and bought into the idea that they would be better off @ p.v. Its ok though cause 1 rotten apple can spoil the whole bunch.
