Yes, go Gators. I am applying to the PhD at UF this month. But I am not applying because of the football team's success. Florida has world-class research facilities. It is the only school in the state that can provide mentorship in my area of interest. I am not applying just because of football. But I do support the team's success. I have two master's degrees and am now going for the PhD at Florida. Go Gators.

Congrats to Alabama. Won with class and deserved it. No Gator chomps which tells me you have a classy team. We're all cheering you on for the NC. Good luck!

Just as a side question, not that it really affected the game's outcome. Did anyone else think the referees were being retarded? It seemed like EVERY penalty kept falling on Florida even when it was pretty questionable...

Pretty frustrating.

I.E. 3rd quarter McElroy CLEARLY intentionally grounded the ball (he was within the pocket, the ball hit the ground in the pocket, no eligible receivers) and SOMEHOW there was a roughing the passer call against Florida...?

Also, when McElroy hopped, skipped, and jumped down the sideline. The correct spot should have been 4th & inches, not a 1st down.

Well, Crimson Tide fans, Gators take their hats of to you. You are clearly the BEST team in the country this year, & last nite was no fluke. My Gators were stronger last year than they are this year....and Crimson Tide put up a hell of a fight in 2008 but came up short. I am Florida alum & biggest fan in Oregon. Clearly, Alabama is the BEST, no question about it. Last nite you outplayed Florida from start to finish...and finish you did....impressive game Tide. You found the kryptonite against our superman. Mark my words, people, Alabama will roll over Texas. I feel sorry for the Longhorns...they don't know just how hard they'll get whacked come Jan 7. SEC clearly the best conference. Alabama will make SEC proud.

oh, yeah, one more thing. I live in Oregon now, and lots of Oregon Ducks fans here think Ducks could hang with Florida/Alabama. That is so laughable; nobody in Pac-10, or any other conference could hang with either Alabama or Florida. I tell them don't wish to play the Gators or Crimson Tide because if you did Ducks' worst defeat would be the result. SEC is the best confernece; & Alabama Crimson Tide is its' champion, undiputable. Alabama is going to rock Texas' world upside down come Jan 7.

Tietzmeister, about the McElroy hop, skip, jump...I gotta say I disagree. He made it; the replay showed it pretty clear from one of the angles. The officiating was balanced & fair. When Tebow was throwing while getting sacked from behind; ref's called it incomplete pass instead of funble; but (from what I saw) it could have been called fumble just as easily. So on that call Florida benefitted & it went against Alabama. But Saban did not go nuts; he played it classy; he let it go. Both Meyer & Saban showed a lot of class. Meyer showed his frustration a bit; but that is to be expected when nobody has tested his team like Alabama was doing right then. But neither coach nitpicked ref calls. They are both classy dudes when it comes to that. Gotta respect the Saban.

Alabama played its' assignments 100%. No mental lapses, no errors, everybody did what they were supposed to do. Even if Florida had played its' best game of the season they couldn't have beaten Tide last nite. Alabama could have a bad game against Texas come January & still mop the floor with the Longhorns. Texas is gonna get manhandled.

Well as far as I know the eligible receiver must be attempting to catch the pass for an in-the-pocket grounding to be fair. Ingram was facing the other way whether it touched him or not.

As far as the hop and skip, he very may well have gotten it.

As for the forward pass, it wasn't even close to a fumble. Once the arm begins to move forward it's a pass. He was well into his release before the ball came out. Makes me recall the 2006 Auburn game when Chris Leak "fumbled" once the ball had already left his hands lol.

In any case doesn't make a different. The Gators would have lost with or without those calls. It's just frustrating when 15 yards one way turns out to go the other. They should at LEAST have canceled each other.
