You missed the mark...go look at how much legal work the General Counsel sends to firms connected to the Judicial Nominating Committee who coincidentially is in a position to nominate the the Counsel's husband to a Circuit Court Judge's position

lawyers will continue to lie and steal as long as john harkness and the cult known as the bar association protects all the lawyer thieves...... try the lawyers like other citizens.... instead of setting up the preferential bar tribunals.

YET AGAIN our tax dollars have been wasted! That $65,000 could have gone to so many other, better things. But no....Some idiot board member had a power trip and there goes the money.

Alan is doing a great job and is a great leader. EXCEPT, I don't think Chris Evert should get $100,000 a year of taxpayer's money for her name. Instead, she should donate her name to the cause of healping sick children, and then the money could be better spent. Just another millionaire making more millions....So sad.

For those who say "Levine saved millions of dollars," list some examples? Bro-Health has the same crooks with different names. Levine is better at excuse making than Trower was. No-bid contracts happen to this date. The latest: dropping their group purchasing organization - Premier for MedAssets. GPO purchases generate millions in revenue for the GPO. No accountability. Mrs. Stoll smells the stink and I am sure more much more will soon exposed.

Levine is a good guy. But really, no loyalties? He was appointed to his position by the same Governor who appointed Bernstein, Stoll, Sallarulo, Gordon and probably others on that Board.
Sounds like Stoll saw something there - which may or may not be Levine's fault - and she is rightly suspicious. I would start with examining any dealings or votes where Paul Sallarulo was involved.
How could anyone ever question what Paul Sallarulo's intentions were? He was the best thing that happened to the NBHD Board. How about how the times when he was absent and votes took place all while knowing he wouldn't be there?!

You are soooo right about Chris Evert, she SHOULD donate her name. Why should anyone have their name on anything if they themselves have not donated millions for the cause? Look at Bob and Mary Gill, now there's a class act, donated what, 5 million or so for The Heart Center of Excellence, for which they have their name in the lobby! Which is only one of the many donations to the Heart Center directed by Michael Chizner. Was there any one else doing that kind of fund raising? And truthfully for what, no matter what you all think, it's to better the hospital, not for personal gain.
If Rebecca Stoll has something to say, shouldn't she be allowed to voice her opinion and concerns?
If the investigation turned up unfounded, all good, but the $65,000 spent was much less than changing the stationary and signs, all over the county from North Broward Hospital Disctict to Broward Health, don't you agree? Or how about all of the "District" functions that they spend 10's of thousands of dollars on.

If you look at all the "functions" and donations the district has spent $$$ on (I'll bet it is in the millions), you should also inquire as to how many of those donations were to events Paul Sallarulo was honored at, or on the board of, or on the planning committee for. Or, look at the Sallarulo Event the District gave thousands of dollars to, and which his brochures list all the sponsors. Hmmmm. Looking at it now, let's see...wow...they are ALL vendors of the hospital district! What a wild coincidence! The Chairman of the Board has $50,000+ of tax funds donated to his own event, and all the major sponsors of HIS event are..what? oh my...vendors of the hospital district? I'm sure that's just chance, and had nothing to do with his position.

Maybe another question could be...Why did Linda Danoff get a job at the district, and then Sallarulo gets a job with her boyfriend? These are just interesting coincidences, I'm sure.

Levine stopped the maddness and now the people he has stopped are coming at him. He got rid of Danoff, and stopped the taxpayer funded self-promotion going on by some board members. Stand strong, Levine. You are doing the right things. The taxpayers may never know enough to appreciate it, but those of us who know what you are doing do. Don't think these people will ever stop. They won't.

And why do we need new $100 million childrens hospital? There is so much empty space in existing hospitals and patients are sent home and not warehoused in hospitals anymore. Rearrange one or two unused units in an existing facility and save a few bucks for those of us who don't make $700,000 a year as public 'servants'.
i agree there is so much waste....i don't know how to control it though.

FunnyAsHell, What's not so funny is the "Lawyer" for Ms. Stoll was actually her HUSBAND, a title and real estate lawyer. So let's get this straight. A sitting commissioner of a public government entity had her unqualified husband act as her lawyer, and had him show up to a public meeting where he proceeded to make a fool of himself and his wife. The joke of the Commissioners is when they say "Commissioner Stoll", many ask the question, "which one"? So, Funnyashell....Its really not all that funny. In fact, its quite unsettling. They control hundreds of millions of dollars of public funding. Stoll should step aside. Her conduct has brought politics back into a business that until now has been praised for its successful turnaround.

I don't know who this Rebecca is, but she sounds like a bumbling idiot! Hahahahahahahaha.
And her lawyer.... "Gee, maybe we should read the emails out loud", what an arrogant pinhead! Hahahahahahaha.
Why does a board member need a lawyer anyway? Did my tax dollars go to pay that AND the $65,000 investigation? This Stoll woman should be a freaking comedian!
Man, I don't know what changed a couple years ago, but the Hospital District used to be in the news all the time with stupid stuff, and it all stopped. GREAT NEWS!!! Theyrrrrr baaaccckkkk. I can't wait for more! Buahahahahahahahaha.

Lets remember the last CEO and how he was sent out, does anyone remember any of Mike Mayos' commentary on how the comissioners would be paying off the CEO upon his exit. As for the commisshs' all are appointed by the governor so where does the politics start and stop ?
How about running Broward Health as a medical community and lets stop all the politicing especially with these meaningless contracts to physician(s) that don't live up to their commitments and are collecting
are multi-million dollar pay offs. Lets start with providing health care with with financial responsibility and accountability from the people getting the big bucks. I work for the district and take pride in my work but the waste that goes on and the inside politics are a shame. Commissioners shame on you, You are the ones for making medicine a football nightmare

The District or Broward Health should be looking for ways to save the taxpayers money - not spend more. This $100 million hospital will be a living shrine to this regime which is wrong. This place is so poliical it's a joke. I am sure that the "powers that be" will be lining their own pockets along with their cronies if this new hospital is built. As if they don't make enough $$$ off the existing hospital system. I commend Stoll for tak4ing astand on these profiteers

Tired of Nonsense,

The issue here does not seem to be whether to build a new children's hospital. In fact, most people would welcome it. If you have ever been in Broward General, its a beautiful hospital, but the women's and childrens services are all in the older sections of the building. They need to build something new. The real issue is how much public money they are going to use to build it. From the looks of things, the CEO is trying to find alternatives to using public money, which as a taxpayer I applaud. I hope they are successful with this.

I agree with you Cop's Wife. I think the name change was an effort to modernize the District image. But in reality, the name is not that great and the expense to change and advertise, in my opinion, was a waste of money.

There is a tremendous amount of waste in this system, as there are in almost every public entity. The average taxpayer would pay so much less if someone just too the time to weed out the waste and spend the money properly. I bet with enough work, we could even have socialized medicine and pay LESS in taxes.

Where in the world did you get this information? Linda and Paul in a realtionship, yeah right! You must be dreaming.
Have you seen the donations that were brought in under Linda? Let's compare to Schumacher, how's he doing? Oh wait, maybe he is not allowed to start a capital campaign.

I heard from somebodie's sister who's brother in law works with someone who has a close relative with a neighbor that works at a gas station with a guy who's brother is an employee of the District that everyone at the district is bad, or maybe it was good. I don't remember.

Stoll just started shooting off her mouth once she got a little power and that's all this is. A mean spirited nasty person in --thank goodness-- a temporary position of power. It happens all the time--just Lois Wexler on the County Commission. Men are better in power. Stoll is clueless, Wexler too.

I too work for the district, have for 28 years. I have seen leaders change, but I believe that they all come in with the intent to do something good. The board has always been a political statement of whoever the sitting governor is at the time and as a tax assisted entity, I do not believe that will change anytime soon.

But as a nurse..........lets remember, at the end of the day, we are in the business of taking care of patients. They should be first and foremost in everything that we do. After all, if not for them, we would not need to be here.
