To Tim OToole Fan:
Were you lucid when you made your observations about Tim O'Toole being a decent person and coach?
Did he make a positive impact on his teams at Fairfield by running up and down the sideline ranting and screaming?
I don't think so and, apparently, neither did the administration at Fairfield.

Another UCONN game on ESPNU. Comcast and ESPN should both go out of business. Where's Richard Blumenthal on this highly important topic. ;)

Shame on Fairfield University for dumping such a decent person and coach. Tim had a positive impact on an entire generation of young boys i FarirfieldCounty at his summer basketball camps.
As a FU grad circa O'Toole's playing time, I loved the hire, with his Assistant coaching pedigree. The fact of the matter was, he didn't live up to the billing. He was a great show and was fiery, but in the end, that program needed a different type of head coach. Anyone know what TOT is up to now?

I agree, I contacted my State Senator Joe Crisco about this. He got in touch with Comcast and they called me and fed me a line of B/S. I also contacted the Department of Public Utilities, they also forwarded my complaint to Comcast and I got another call from a different person who fed me the same B/S. I then contacted the Uconn A/D Jeff Hathaway and he informed me that it was the Big East who handles all of the television contracts for the Big East teams. All of that means nothing to me, as I know the problem could be resolved by Comcast and ESPN reaching an agreement to carry ESPNU.

Did Calhoun have a straight face when he said this would be a tough game? That's like saying, "The vendors will have a really tough time selling Bud Light tonight".

If you truly want to change things then get several thousand people to cancel their comcast service and or ESPN service if it happens to be a paid subscription such as the magazine or ESPNU then watch an agreement take shape between Comcast and ESPN..Of course this won`t happen because people are all talk and no action

Thanks Captain Clueless. I think I'll gather up several thousand Courant message board posters and we'll agree to never post on or read this board again to assure ourselves we'll never have to read another waste of keystrokes from "Adam in Newington."

My last comment was altered by the forum. I didn't put any astericks in. Let's try a few other names. My favorite NASCAR name, Dick Trickle. A former President, Dick Nixon. A baseball great, Dick Allen.............Now the real experiment, a comedy legend (sort of), Dickie Smothers.

Why does UConn keep playing at the Hartford Civic Center (XL Center)? The XL center fans are some of te most uninspired in Top 25 basketball. It is a huge disadvantage playing in front of a disinterested home crowd. Is this just to sell a few thousand extra tickets? Not many other major programs are willing to sacrifice the "6th man" advantage for a few more ticket sales. It really hurts the team in close games and in games against overmatched teams.

Ring the students around the court like they do in so many other big-time college arenas -- don't stuff them on one end in favor of the starchy bluebloods. Push the Xanax crowd up a level and let the real fans who make some noise -- the students -- be heard.

And give it a rest about ESPNU. Do you really think that the ESPN family of networks are going to use the tiny state of Connecticut as a national pawn just so a few more people will get ESPNU? Contrary to the popular way of thinking, it sounds like you're the naive one here. Listen to it on the radio once in a while, goodness forbid that you can't SEE the guys running around. Stop whining. Or get out of the house to go out to a bar once in a while to watch the game. Honestly!

Tim O'Toole is a good man and a good basketball coach. It must have been felt by the upper administration that a change was needed because the AD, Gene Doris, was Tim's Varsity Basketball head coach at Arch. Stepinac HS in White Plains! "Geno" supported Tim the entire way through and it must have pained him to make a move. I believe Fairfield's program will never dominate the MAAC as Manhattan, Rider, Iona, Siena and other MAAC schools have done in stretches because of its location.
