Come on now Geno, another dT ??? We've got Maya and they don't???? Two games in dosen't make a season.
If Gardler, Mclaren, Cassie, Dixon will step up and become the players they should be Geno may be able to call this "the day".
I understand the frustration of Geno with the above group, they are talented, they are basketball players--or they'd be at some lessor school. They've got to show agression and that they are not only defenders but scorers. Cassie,
has the height and scoring abilites to be a big help--why does she blend into the background during her playing time?? Come on Cassie make me proud!!!
I've had many favorites during my fan-hood of Uconn women mostly the entire team--but this year it is the slasher, who now hits from the outside. KaLANA Green.
Wow, if she isn't an All American--it's because she hides her bright light under a basket. Kalana, tell the world ==you are great!!!
Thanks John, these insights into the UConn team make Chris Daileys team come to light for us fans..

Since Maya Moore is a far superior player than either Mel Thomas or Kalana Greene, she should start as a freshman. The best players should always start. If they don't, it affects their motivation and commitment to the program. And, what happens in a tough game with a team like Tennessee when every minute counts? Giving Mel Thomas or Kalana Green many minutes in a difficult game like that instead of Maya Moore can be the difference between winning or losing. Mel Thoma and Kalana Greene will always do well against the second rate teams. Geno is making a mistake in basing his starting decisions on emotion and seniority rather than on ability. This is a major reason for him to possibly not get another National Championship this year. In my opinion, when he starts and plays the best players, he will be more successful. For example, why didn't he make Ashley Battle a regular starter in her senior year? Who played successfully in the WNBA last year, Ashley Battle or Ann Strother? Ann Strother started every game from her freshman to her senior year at UConn and was only an above average player, not a superior player like Maya Moore.

Gee Don ... maybe Geno should just retire and let you coach.
btw ... Annie started every game *but one*. Not too shabby for a national player of the year in HS. oh wait, i forgot, she's only an 'above average player'... hmmm wonder how she got to be 7th highest on the career points list then.
Knowing Geno's system, i'm sure she got the PT because she earned it. If she wasn't productive she wouldn't have been on the floor.
She and BT started as freshmen because the killer class of Sue, Swin, AJ & Tamika had just graduated and there was plenty of space for a freshmen who could handle it to start.
I'm pretty sure Geno has a much better hold on the players' psyches than you do and is in a much better position to determine who should be starting and who should be coming off the bench.
But hang in there, Don ... i'm sure Geno may want to get in touch with you for more advice on how to win a National Championship.
