Eastern Michigan: Australian punter learning U.S. game | BuckeyeXtra

In its formative years, when programming was not yet sufficient to fill 24 hours on a nascent sports network, ESPN supplied wee-hour insomniacs with something called Australian rules football. Full Story

Australians are really a bunch of "Brit" rejects, aren't they!? Doesn't get any lower than that. Sorry for the young idiot!

Jay Karutz is a fine punter on a very up and coming team. We will probably not see too much of him this Sat. EMU 27 OSU 20. You know it. I know it. Get the crying towels ready.

Don't forget Americans are just a bunch of "Brit" rejects too.

Why would OSU be afraid to take a chance to an Australian punter? We just spent the last few years with a South African kicker.

There once was a bird called the EMU,
Can't recall the last time that he flew,
What's that you say?
It's the Eagles we play?
Well it really only matters what we do.

AFL Australian Rules Football is an awesome game. I've been following since those early ESPN late night broadcast. Excellent athletes, very skilled and in shape. NO Pads, no faking to fall down, rough tackles, 50 meter kicks. and best of all (hint to NFL slow play league) continous and fast paced play. I my self am a Carlton Blues fan, not as good a year this year. Go Bucks O-H

I think that's awesome that this Aussie kid was able to come into a program and make an immediate impact in the special teams aspect of the game. Considering he has not had any prior experience playing or even really observing American Football. Granted, he is punting (no offense, I was a kicking specialist in school), he is now punting with a helmet, shoulder pads, etc with a smaller, different shaped ball, on a more narrow field. The field of play is now half as wide as it used to be. That is quite an adjustment right there. It means he HAS to have more ball control when it leaves his foot.

Good for him, welcome to America... And tomorrow, the Buckeyes will say "Welcome to Big Time College Football!"

I truly am sorry for spewing venom. Obviously, my rant had nothing to do with the young man. On so many forums where Aussies and Brits continually bash the USA, I did not stop to think where I was posting, and who the story was about. And did not truly think anyone would be reading it anyway. So much hatred in the world, and I added to it. Soooo sorry! Learned a lesson also that I should never drink and post opinions. Will never happen again. Good Luck to the young man.

Limerick regurgitation

For the most part you sound right on,
But it is OSU administering the con,
Every year they play at least three bums
Those games so unfair, break out the tums?
When the expected victory conclusion is already forgone

My turn.

USC is a school full of cheats
Their player recieve all kinds of sweet treats

Some get houses while others get cars
Most of these kids will end up behind bars

The titles are gone that Choosen Traveler once relished
Now he spends his time here being bitter and jealous.

Chosen Traveler's wake up call will be swift and fast
Because October 30th the Ducks kick some Trojan a.s.s.
