Triple threat | BuckeyeXtra

There are 19 comments on the Columbus Dispatch story from Sep 26, 2010, titled Triple threat | BuckeyeXtra. In it, Columbus Dispatch reports that:

The way Dane Sanzenbacher saw it, this one was for the Ohio State defense. So often through the years, the defense has had to make stop after stop in a tight ballgame, bailing out a struggling, stagnant offense.

73 to 20? Big deal! Another easy win on a cakewalk of a schedule.

Have to love how Buckeye's fans celebrate this type victory as if their team just beat the 70's era Steelers. The fact is, this game was practically an exhibition.

You guys *really* need to get some perspective.

Teams come in knowing they are going to get thumped but the money for their system is good.
(What? Usually $850,000?)
Believe it or not, its also game experience for the MAC teams also. I do believe it helps them during the season.(Besides the money).

For the BIG teams..They see where they are weak. If something works for a small team, what will a BIG team do to us. Just as importantly, the backup's get experience. Anyone notice...Gilet(sp), the third backup quarterback tossed a beautiful touchdown strike.....He's the kid out of Texas everyone looked over. He will be TP's replacement one day. Seeing these things are only possible thru these types of games.

Scheduling is always a two way street. The small team can always say no.

Its funny, really pathetic how you clowns make a big deal out of hanging 70 spot on Eastern Michigan. They came in as a rebuilding team with very little hope of even scoring in Ohio Stadium. Give me a friggin break. This was a joke win. A game that never should have been scheduled, let alone blown hugely out of proportion like the Dispatch always does!!! Pathetic writing by some huge homer writers. Get a dose of reality and learn what real wins look like. This was not Alabama that these clowns played, it was Eastern Michigan for pete sake.

Well...congrats on the win, Bucks...there are MANY positive things to take away from yesterday's game. As a long-time fan, thanks for those positives.

HOWEVER...when I hear linemen in postgame interviews talk about the offensive line "arriving", especially against a squad like EMU, I am concerned. Sitting in the stands yesterday, it sure looked to me like all too many runs were easily stopped by an outmanned, slower defense...and I don't care how many "men they had in the box". You are VETERANS and one of the healthier units on the team and SHOULD be making even greater strides than you have thus far shown.

Or is the issue even more on the shoulders of the apparent inability of Mr. Saine and Mr. Herron to quick juking and just hit the damn hole with authority? It will be interesting to see whether the O-line OR Herron and Saine actually grade out with a winning performance. From here on out...the competition gets tougher...and I hope to see far more use of Jordan Hall...who demonstrates a burning desire to play EVERY time he is on the field! EVERYONE on the offense would do well to follow his example!

Congrats to Mr. Pryor...keep improving...keep leading.

Defense...in spite of the injuries...there's some soul-searching to do this week...huh?

Congratulations Buckeye fans on beating a great EMU team. You should be very proud of the great Buckeyes. Next week the great Buckeyes play a tremendous Illini team that is coached by a coach that the Gators fired. While your great Buckeyes are playing another cupcake, the Gators will upsetting the #1 Tide. Is there a top ten team on your sechedule this year? If you want the college football fans to respect you, which they don't, play some top ten teams. I so wish that the Buckeyes would play in the SEC! GO GATORS!!! GO SEC!!!

Frankly, I don't think hanging 73 points on EMU is going to help the Bucks this time. Alabama beat a ranked team, while Ohio State allowed 20 points, betraying a weakness in their defense that the better Big Ten teams will be looking to exploit.

It's as simple as that.

But it's OK when Florida, Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, etc run up 70+ on some directionally-challenged school? I hope you write to all of those schools message boards preaching the gospel of fair play and sportmanship too. Ohio State rarely runs up the score. As Chris Spielman and many other professional athletes have said. It's the other team's responsibility to stop them from scoring, not Jim Tressel's.

I recall Spurrier making his QB's throw TD's in the 4th qtr when beating the same lame teams 65-0. But that was OK right? Doubt your Gators will beat Alabama. Don't worry though, Ohio State will beat them for you in January.

I was right. OSU actually lost a few first place votes in today's poll. Beating ranked teams is a hard thing to trump when it comes to impressing pollsters.

Wow, Tressel runs the score up something he's never done before and people wanna complain about it. I agree with Mike its okay for everyone else to do it but Tressel does it and ppl wanna pick up stones to toss at him. Its fine for Carrol or Stoops to light it up right.

Wow, I could set my clock to the disgusting comments that are posted after buckeye games on this website. This team continues to rack up wins and they do so impressively. You arent going to play timmy "superman" tebow and the Gators every week so you cant expect every win to be largely significant. Sometimes you play tough opponents and sometimes you play weaker teams but the bottom line is that a win is a win, and to get to the NC you have to beat each and every team on this schedule regardless of what kind of competition they offer...this buckeye team offers some of the rarest talent in the nation with TP, Heyward, Sanzenbacher and Posey, and I think alot of people take them for granted...I dont know how this season will end but im going to go out on a limb and say that this team will be more remembered than the Krenzel led NC team...Pryor is walking the greatness line and with up and coming talent like Hall and Berry this team will be stacked for years. Start supporting them instead of hatin the greatness in action....if you are a hater just remember these comments you posted all season when the national title celebration begins!!!!!!! if you are a fan, SUPPORT LIKE A FAN!!!! if you are a doubter, go to the michigan website and talk about denard robinson!!!! GO BUCKS, NO DOUBTERS HERE IN JEANNETTE PA, PITTSBURGHS OWN BABY TP AND JORDAN HALL!!! KEEP SHININ

I didn't like giving up 3 touches to EMU, but if you watch the replays of those drives and scores you'll see there was almost nothing the secondary could do about it besides get an interference call. That Gillett kid was ON, playing above himself, he'll never be that accurate again because he had nothing to lose. Some of those TD passes wouldn't have been caught if they were mere inches in front or behind were he threw them. It was just one of those moments. all in all, I think our D was fine. Can't wait to get the BigTen schedule underway gentlemen.

The Gators will be raped and tea-bagged by Alabama next week and there's nothing they can do. Just pray Urban Meyer doesn't have a heart attack after he and his team get beasted by Bama.
