Singletary picked up on DUI charges with a 0.13 and is only suspended for 1 game. What a joke and embarassment to the University. Did the KID learn anything from this slap on the wrist one game suspension?

Win at any cost attitude ? Kent's program is out of control - That KID could have killed someone on Saturday night and this is being taken so lightly by the u admin. Where's the penalty?

BTW - a similar instance just happened at UConn and the player is suspended indefinately (not just one game) and could be done for the season. The Uconn player was not arrested for a DUI but a lesser charge of open container in the car while it was parked. Add to the fact, that this is Singletary 3RD suspension during just 1 1/2 years - Please note all other suspensions were acedemic related and must beg the question - HOW DOES THIS GUY STAY ELEGIBLE for basketball -- I bet those records are interesting ;).

But hey all that thats important is winning games.....Just makes you wonder when someone is going to say enough is enough.

Gee, hard to spot an Akron fan.
Not sure how you can compare the UConn story. I don't know what the whole story there is, but 2 things are obvious, 1) neither do you & 2) there has to be more to it.

Not excusing what he did - it's clearly wrong and I'm sure there is a price being paid behind the scenes, however, I would be more than willing to bet your house has a lot of glass in it, so I would caution you against lobbing bricks around so cavalierly.

First off - You can read about the UConn story for yourself - it's front page of ESPN. Big programs cant typically hide their arrests nationally.
What's so different about it and why does there have to "more to the story...." Isnt drunk driving and putting people in harms way serious enough. Oh, I know, those stupid laws......what an idiot of me to think that they should followed and enforced with the right penalties. And what "Student Athletes ?" whose Tuition and fees are paid for shouldnt be held accountable because they can dribble a basketball and get your precious mid major 20 insignificant wins?
Pretty shallow response. And BTW, I'm a Buckeye fan so I know all about glass houses. It doesnt mean that I accept or like the conduct. A one game suspension and playing 3 days later after a DUI arrest is a JOKE. It's hard to believe that any rational person would argue that one.

If you're a Buckeye fan, why do you go by "Kent State is a JOKE"? Shouldn't it be "Michigan is a JOKE"?

ummmm....cause you can change you name for emphasis per subject.
All I'm pointing out is that to most ordinary people, this looks bad. Luckily, since you are Kent State and not UCONN or another BCS School, you are insignificant and get a pass by allowing a "Student Athlete?" to compete 3 days after a fairly serious arrest. I just think it's plain wrong so I speak up after seeing self indilgent commments after a victory using a player that was just arrested. You cant even argue innocent until proven guilty which would be valid.

Man alive, for a "big time program" guy you have a lot of angst. Maybe it's all the guys that have got in trouble at OSU over the years that's got you all hopped up. Or maybe it's just that OSU has one good run once a decade and then slips back into college hoops obscurity.

Anything I say is going to make it sound like I'm making light of DUI's - I'm not trying to at all. I'm just not sure what you want the kid to do. Knowing Portage Co (which has the highest arrest rate for DUI) they are taking care of business & he isn't getting off easy.

Oh, and to shoot more holes in your analogy, at least one of those UConn guys failed a drug test, also. Told you that rabbit hole was a bit deeper than you thought. But then again, you are master of the "user name" so how can I doubt your big brains and logic.

hey "kent state is blank" did you actually attend OSU. I mean OSU in Columbus. Did you actually graduate? or are you one of the thousands of NE Ohio poser buckeyes??

furthermore, how about instead of all this holier than thou crap you actually tell us what you think would be a reasonable sit down for him.

my guess is you (like a lot of us) are probably guilt of something similar to some degree, so i think you need to back off a bit.

Hey I changed my name for emphasis too! Thanks for the tip, buddy! Go back to the Buckeye board now and talk with the 'big boys'. Don't concern yourself with an insignificant story about KSU. Bye Bye now.

Kent State is Joke,

It's a fair question whether Singletary is getting sufficient punishment from the athletic department. Rather than citing one instance (UConn), I wonder what the "typical" punishment is for this type of offense in Div. I hoops.

Do you know? Does it change your opinion IF Dyson and Wiggins (the two UConn players) play this Saturday? That is, is a two-game suspension adequate, but a one-game suspension is not?

In any case, don't you think the term "out of control" is a little bit of an overstatement? I haven't been aware of a host of abuses by athletes in the athletic department. To be fair, I don't follow KSU sports that closely. If I'm unaware of some other large-scale transgressions, please inform me.

That's right, an unbelievable achievement, especially for the Head Coach, Christian. It is unbelievable how every other team in the MAC goes through highs and low and yet Kent wins 20 every year. The only explanation is coaching/recruiting. Unfortunately one day we are going to be looking at Christian coaching a top 25 program one day, since his success here won't go unnoticed for much longer.
