UConn 78, Old Dominion 63 -- Students, University of Connecticu...

In retrospect, it was too much to ask of Old Dominion, even as determined as the Lady Monarchs were to shrink the cavernous gap against UConn taunting them since November. Full Story

This game must have been exciting for all of the 9 people that watched it.

Why is he playing the starters for sooooooo many minutes when it isn't necessary?

I think J.A. meant "contingent" not "continent" (of fans).

Why don't you guys get a life and get off any UConn news. You obviously all hate women's basketball so why post? I bet it is just to annoy real fans of the sport, but it isn't working. How about those poker matches on ESPN - I bet you watch them every time they are on - lol.

They seem to watch all the games for some reason. Bet they couldn't even make the team.

I love the Uconn Women and Women's basketball in general...it is fantastic to watch--real skill, real passing, real scoring, and real team work..if one loves basketball who wouldn't love this??

But, I doubt if ANY of us who blog or watch the UConn women could make this team. I for one know my skills never were at their level .

Old Dominion (ODU) should be commended on their ability to stay with the Huskies for most of this game. They showed up a weakness of Tina Charles -- they blocked her and took the ball away from her a few times in the first half--until Geno pulled her and hopefully gave her some direction..

Hope Tina and Rene are not injured from the rough handling they got--but it probably prepared them for Tuesday agains't Rutgers. Watch Epip before she really harms someone.

It was only 7 in the second half-the other 2 wet their pants in excitement.

Didn't the real Wm Howard Taft weigh some 310 lbs?

I'm betting this one does, too - if not more.

It was a great game to watch! And playing Rutgers on Tuesday will bring in many more hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Including WHT, I'm sure, while scarfing down Doritos...

Doesn't the stellar sports writing staff of the Courant mean "contingent" of fans, not "continent". Jeez don't these morons have spell check?????

A spell check wouldn't have caught that.

Actually, I like "continent of fans."

Nifty metaphor!

Meanwhile, why not apply to the Courant as a freelance copy reader?

Well, the Coach is zoning on the sideline, up 25 points with 5 minutes to go and he doesn't even think about subbing. What's up with that? Wake up Geno!! The girls were dead tired and they have another game in 2 days, against the only team that beat you this year. Serves you right that you only go on to win by 15 points and you suffer 2 injuries in those last 5 minutes to key players. Hopefully, their injuries aren't serious. GO HUSKIES!!

Read Dave Solomons article in todays New Haven Register. He touches on the point that the entire country could care less about womens basketball, but in Connecticut people treat it like it is the focal point of all sport stories. All major sport shows & radio shows don't even mention it. It's like the NHL. Nobody cares except senior citizens.

Actually Taft you're wrong.(big surprise). While a lot of UConn women fans are older, there are many younger fans like myself. I'm 28 and a guy and love watching them play.

Furthermore, there was a recent poll done on college sports and guess what? Women's College Bball was more popular than college baseball.

Every true Husky fan knows that UCONN fans are present at every age. If you are not a true fan, get off this thread. Geno is doing a great job with this team, and I am happy to hear that both Tina and Rene are OK. Let's go UCONN, beat Rutgers. Connecticut pride.

I agree with Dick G and John. Tough game coming on Tuesday, some coaches might try to not exhaust their starters. But Geno does this consistently so I can't say he's not consistent.
