Mike Krzyzewski should take another leave of absence from Duke. During the 1994-95 season, Krzyzewski left the Blue Devils, citing a back ailment that required surgery. Read more

You people just have to have something to right about. Are you so insecure that brings this kind of junk up make you feel like a writer. Mr K . just made the tourny. how about the other 290 1A schools that did not make it? where are the articiles about them. In fact the last articile you wrote was not up to my liking so how about you step down, and work at something you might be qualified for. Most of us would sell our right arme to do as well Mr Krzewski does.

Maybe if he would play some nonconference true away games, not Neutral site at Camron North(Meadowlands),it would tuffin up his team. Instead he has a false nonconference record that RPI doesn't reconize cause they don't take into account away games. His record couldn't shine Adolf Rupp's shoes. ESPN has made Coach K and he doesn't even have to recruit cause of ESPN. They really never did anything untill ESPN came along.

Coach K gets incredible praise and adulation for winning with the most talented players in the land. Show me another team, ever, that had six former McDonalds All Americans and I'll show you a team that finished way better than 8-8 in conference.

Talk about inane. I hate Duke just as much as the next guy, but this column is a waste of space. Paul, all these great stories coming out of the NCAA's and you wrote this? You should be forced to turn in your press pass.

That piece was horrible. I dislike Dook very much but I think Coach K is more then capable of getting Duke back in contention next season and the season after that etc.

Krzyzewski should just stay where he is and keep dragging the Dukies down. Get another coach for the national team, one that can actually relate to the spoiled Pro players.

What? Step down and avoid not just one but two underperforming seasons in '08? Take on more, Coach K, not less.

What a ridiculous commentary! Give the man another year to work with the NBA'ers and watch out. It's not like guys who never played a lick of defense in their young adult lives can suddenly turn it on, but another summer of working under K and his staff, and they'll most definitely be better on the defensive end of the court. I do like the idea of Johnny D succeeding Coach K though (someday). Go Devils!!!

Obviously, PAUL MCMULLEN HAS CREATED A STORY TO CREATE CONTROVERSY. MANY OF YOU FANS LOOK INTO THE NEGATIVE AND TURN YOUR CHEEK TO A LOCAL ACC COACH AND DECIDE TO BASH THE MAN WHO IS BRINGING BACK THE “DREAM TEAM”.

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND’S GARY WILLIAMS CAPTURED THE NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS IN 2002 ALONG WITH GUIDING HIS TEAM TO THE NCAA FINAL FOUR NATIONAL CHAMPION. SINCE THAT HISTORIC SEASON THE MIGHTY TERRAPINS HAVE HAD DISMAL SEASONS.
2002-03 Maryland 21 10 .677 11 5 .688 T-2nd NCAA South Region Semifinals (2-1)
2003-04 Maryland 20 12 .625 7 9 .438 6th NCAA Denver Regional Second Round (1-1)
2004-05 Maryland 19 13 .594 7 9 .438 T-6th
2005-06 Maryland 19 13 .594 8 8 .500 6th

AS WE CAN SEE THE IN CONFERENCE RECORD HAS TUMBLED FROM A 15-1 MARK IN 01-02 TO 11-5 AND MOST RECENTLY 8-8. HOW CAN WE BLAST Krzyzewski about lack of attention to his team if we allow a Coach in our own backyard to let the beloved Terrapins slip to .500? Must we mention Kevin Durant? Durant, one of the most highly recruited players in college history is destined for the next level stardom, slip through the recruiting hands of Gary Williams and his staff. However, he was able to land his teammate Greivis Vasquez from Montrose Chirstian.
The point I am trying to make is that you should not accept a poor attempt of attention from the author of the original story. We should take our place in the un-satisifed fan line, as we watch our local team fall to the way side instead of bashing someone who is coaching putting in overtime in the coaching catergory. As I see it as a neutral fan, seems like Coach K is out coaching, out working, out recruiting and putting in more time to actually teach the game of basketball to the nation’s best players then Gary Williams. Both in college and in the pros. I stand strongly behind Gary Williams and admire what he is doing. But we should not lose sight of what the object of NCAA basketball for the Terps, simply win games.

Hey Paul how about taking a leave of absense from your stupid column.

Do you know Caoch K? Do you follow Duke basketball? Do you live down here? If any answer is no, the shut the hell up unless you know what the hell you're talking about.

As a Terps fan, I hate Duke just like I hate the Cowboys and the Yankees but I do know a GREAT coach when I see one like Coach K, although the Terps own his BD's over the few games or so.

Besides, if Coach K should resign, maybe Coach GW should be fired for the Terps lousy loss to Butler and the team's radically inconsistent season.

I'm a Duke fan and I'm from Baltimore, but I am a reasonable Duke fan. I know this was a bad year. I know Redick choked come tournament time. I've seen Coach K "work the refs" and I hate his antics sometimes. Despite all this, I have one thing to say: are you kidding me? Coach K step down? Is that a joke? You are no different than any other Coach K or Duke basher. You bring up this bad season, no title since 2001, the USA team, etc. He should step down because of one bad year? They were 32-4 on 2005-2006. I guess that just slipped your mind. College teams have off years. They lost their two best players from last year. It usually takes time to rebuild. If Coach K stepped down now, it would look like he just couldn't face losing and he would be bashed for that. Maryland has won a national championship more recently than Duke, and they have beaten Duke a lot over the past few years. However, their losses have been in the double digits after that. Guess when Duke last had a double digit loss season (before this one)? 1995. Yea, it's really time for him to step down, after one off season. I really think some people work harder at being stupid than others. You are definitely one of those people.

This is the most unnecessary use of ink.....you think in a land of Duke haters that this article would be a good read....NOT, Coach Krzyzewski has done more than enough to have the opportunity to coach whoever or whatever he wants. Don't you think the people who hired him to coach team USA considered his responsibilities to Duke. Don't you think he did before he accepted the job. Do me a favor when performing a patriotic duty. Vote or volunteer at the VA but just don't write this crap again

WHO CARES what the rat-faced dastard does? Let dook keep losing for as long as they like; as for the US team, the Olympics have never been worth caring about since spoiled pros were allowed to compete instead of enthusastic amateurs. Stay, step down, coach this, coach that, take more endorsement checks. He's got plenty of time to do whatever, because they're NOT PLAYING anymore, and that's all that really matters. You can write as many articles as you like about the dookies losing.
