A "down year" where the Championship was decided by who wanted to lose the most? Yet, Ohio State couldn't even survive the Sweet 16 against admittedly mediocre teams. We may have talent, but we somehow lost the winning spirit.

And who still wants a national football championship to be determined by following this model? I'm sure it would settle all questions....

No one can convince me that Butler and UConn were the season's two best teams. Proponents of a college football playoff need to look long and hard at Monday night's game. March Madness is exciting, but it devalues the regular season for all but the most hard-core fans, and it often delivers a national champion who simply got hot/lucky at the right time. I'm not against adding a championship round or two after the bowls, but a full 8-or-16-team playoff would eviscerate college football.
